Please give us an option to delete a giveaway automatically if it receives less than 5 entries. When it completes instead of rolling for a winner, it will delete itself and restore points to everyone who entered the giveaway. It can be a checkbox when creating the giveaway if it is private/group/wishlist only.

In addition to not hurting our CV for GA, I think this might help with reducing the number of delete support tickets.

Don't think this will happen.
Besides, if it has less than 5 entries just man up and give the game to the winner.
Your loss, since you decided to make private/group/wishlist only.
I don't think it's a reason to ask for a GA to be deleted.

it's not really fair on the people who do enter though. it's better to just try to ensure that you get more than five people enter. don't make whitelist/group giveaways until you have a good number of people eligible (keep in mind that not all who are eligible will necessarily want the game), make sure it's open long enough for people to notice it, etc

Manual deleting has repercussions though.

Each amount of keys you delete removes one giveaway slot. After a while it means little, but the punishment is there.

But if your giveaway received 0 entries, after the end you'll still end up losing an giveaway slot, or more depending on number of copies you wanted to give.

If it receives 0 entries, it just ends. Nothing happens.

fair point, that's not really fair either. but at least with that it's people misusing an otherwise useful tool (mistakes do happen after all). if an automated system is allowed to delete giveaways without enough entries that would send the message that the site staff support such behaviour

Does site staff support deleting giveaways just because they don't have as many entries as desired? Would we want them to?

What justification for deleting it would they have? There is no "Deleted because it didn't get as many entries as I wanted" option. Doing so would be pretty much the same as making a fake giveaway, maybe worse.

Well, any non-public giveaway that fails to reach number of copies + 5 entries, will give 0 CV to the creator upon delivery.

Number of copies is irrelevant only number of entries and region restricteD public GAs also require 5 entries

I recall some staff confirming that the FAQ just assumes a one-copy giveaway, it is actually number of copies + 5 (or +4, can't remember which).

Well i have a recent group GA with 4 copies and 7 entries but I still got CV for it

Well, then either I recall incorrectly (happens) or the staff was mixing something up. Good to know though.

This does make sense. If the whole point of requiring 5 entries is to avoid farming CV in a small group, then making 5 copies with 5 entries each would summarily defeat that. Although I suppose it requires a higher overall expenditure.

yes, but there should be an additional box when creating the giveaway to tag it as "CV FARM", so people know beforehand what could happen when they enter.

  1. ask for invite in every group
  2. 4-5 small leeching group invite the same users. every group owner is a member in every other group
  3. they realize the rules
  4. buy the cheapest bundles - gala bundle packs and/or otaku packs
  5. start giveaways one-by-one w/ the $0.1 keys
  6. no entries because every user bought the same packs
  7. bugs/suggestions thread

The pitfalls of 1:2 leech groups
Everyone's already leeched 2x as many games as they've given, no one needs any of the games offered.

Seems about right.

Some ppl want both group ratio and CV :3

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

In some groups you have to create group only GA or it does not count for your group ratio. Generally this is not an issue with groups that allow WL or multiple groups, only when you are forced to have single group GA.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That means you should make giveaways people want to enter, in your group.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

How about instead you wont make conditions for giveaways so less than 5 people enter? If you do such a hard to enter thing you recieve what you expected

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nah, the system works alright as it is. Especially in ratio based groups, people should be open to the idea that their GA won't get 5 or more entries. Just the way it goes sometimes

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It works fine. Just suspend people who delete giveaways that get only 1-4 entries and it'll be perfect.
