I'm sure this seems from out of nowhere, and it really is, but I just wasn't sure where else to post this.
I played some Gauntlet Dark Legacy with a group of friends this week, and it reminded me of all the times my friends and I spent playing Gauntlet Legends on N64. It also reminded me that there was a new Gauntlet game in development for Nintendo DS, and I wanted to check how that was coming along. It has been unofficially cancled it seems and refuses to tell us anything more.
But I did a little looking around trying to find out who owns the series franchise these days. After doing some digging, I've pegged down the suspects, but without further extensive research, I can't pic who the culpret is.
Choice A) Warner Bros. - they purchased almost all of Midway's Studios and IPs when Midway went belly-up a couple years back.
Choice B) THQ - They purchased one of the Midway studios that Warner Bros. didn't, and it also happens to be the studio that handled the last released Gauntlet game, Gauntlet Seven Sorrows
Choice C) This one is a mess and is based on the Guantlet DS game that never happened. The information I've found leads to this game being built on a borrowed IP, or it means that Square Enix/Eidos own the Gauntlet IP.
I'm willing to bet it's Choice A, though Choice B is a possibility. Choice C is such a mess I be surprised if that one worked out. All this just to find out who I should start complaining about to make a new Gauntlet game.
So see what you can find and let me know. But I think it's high-time we actually get a new game in the franchise. Who you think owns th franchise and when do you expect the ae to be announced?
