help me find a movie ?

I watched a film ages ago and I only remember some really specific bits from it,
The story-line consisted of a man going into a volcano and not coming out. Then some time later his
son goes into the volcano and finds a monster who then turns out to be his father.
I believe the movie ends with the camera zooming in on the monster falling into lava and you see his hand with the sons fathers ring on it....
sorry about it being so vague...

not quite the plot like you said, but if i remember correctly the movie ends with him falling into the volcano

hmm no it was kinda a sci-fi movie, they had special spaceships to go into the volcano... might not have been a volcano..

sounds like the relic, the cave sort of deal, wasnt this the twist at the end of one of scifi channel's offbrand remakes of journey to the center of the earth or something silly like that?
