You should give them a try. The Uplay team is constantly working hard to update and fix the bugs of their client. This isn't the same client from years ago. Take a look at they're changelog, they release a patch every week. They're doing a fantastic job with it TBH.

Why do you need it? Slow internet? I havent used Steam's backup option for many years.

Internet is fine, but there's a limit monthly. If I exceeds it, the speed will be reduced 40% which is a hassle. Other reason is my internal storage (/C+D) that doesn't even reach 1tb, not counting the other files, folders, videos, apps, etc. which took half of the storage. So I can't keep them all installed. (I'm using laptop)

You can just copy the folder anywhere else, and then copy it back and reinstall back to the same folder. This works with Steam, Origin, UPlay, etc. I have never used the Steam "backup" feature in, what, 14/15 years?

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Starter Edition includes the same content as Standard Edition, including Story and Multiplayer modes. It is compatible with the season pass and DLCs. The difference is the number of heroes available when you start. Starter Edition includes six playable heroes (instead of 12), with three fully unlocked.
