Cards will happen during the event, they just won't "preview them" before the sale starts. I think this good, it always seemed weird to me that sale cards started dropping for like a week before the sale went live. I'm really interested about what Valve has planned for this sale in particular.

There is nothing weird about it. People who actually bother leveling up will move massive amounts of card sets around and craft them, causing a big load on the servers. It makes perfect sense to not combine this with the load the sale is causing already by giving them ample time to do that before.

Coal and that auction thingy event that I missed back in the days, something like that would be nice. And useful. Kinda.
Having the possibility to get additional discounts would be great too. I mean.... there was something like that during a past sale. Get $5 off if you buy for at least... I think it was 30-35$ ? If you already had planned to spend that much, that was interesting for you. But for those whom that wasn't the case, it didn't serve as an incentive to buy more. At least, that did not work on me. I dunno... I was more thinking about something like getting a scratching coupon or a "spin the wheel" feature when checking out that would give you an additional random discount. But... yeah, let's be real, that's not gonna happen. :o/

You won't get cards from free games , i think you need gems to get them . You could get them before by making unusefull cards or anything else from steam inventory . I could get more than 20000 to get booster paks for free games . Now i thik will not be possible anymore .

I'm not talking about free to play games, I'm talking about games that go free for like 2 days or so, like Guacamele recently. Those used to give trading cards when ideling them, but Valve disabled this feature a couple of weeks ago.

You can still get those cards with booster packs ! This is what i told you . Before you could get them from makind duplicate backgronds , unusefull emoticons from making badges from summer event ! Or just buy them ! Well i think it will not be possible anymore

The badge is irrelevant to the conversation. What falloutdude83 is talking about is that the changes to the Summer Event are just another step in Steam's effort to stop alt-account bots from farming free cards. First it was removing cards from free games, now they're removing cards from Sales Events to stop the bots.

I usually make a few cents by selling these cards, so maybe I'm mildly sad; but I think they want to do something big and different, and hopefully also funny. I miss the old big sales, with dedicated in-game achievements and free items and games, when you actually wanted to participate instead of just use macros and scripts.

the Lundar Sale had a badge and no cards, the Cleanup sale (that was in May) had no cards but still a badge, etc. so for now we can assume no cards doesn't mean no badge.

I think it will be similar to the Pig year sale. The rewards will be tokens that you can't trade or sale, for backgrounds, badges and emoticons that you can't trade or sale. Maybe you can purchase additional discounts for selected games, and you can earn tokens playing some dumb games. And an even bigger maybe, some selected games may be purchased with tokens, but I find this less probable.

you need to change the title cause it's misleading , there will be " Grand priest sale " trading cards in the sale event . there won't be early mystery cards and i believe there wasn't either last winter sale

Some clarification concerning the wording.
These are two separate sentences. You can't take a part from the second and combine it with the first.
meaning: no sale cards, period.
also, additionally no mystery cards prior to sale
Saying there will be cards during the sale just not before is, unfortunately, wrong. Also:
just delaying cards for a week wouldn't really qualify as 'something different'
