And to answer the thread's question. I'm somewhere between casual/core, it just depends. I usually hate playing horror games (but they kickstart my heart, I won't deny it), so I usually play them in 30~minutes sessions. But if I hit some RPG and have some spare time, I might turn into no-life for next 200h :P

I hate playing horror games too, but unlike you, I tend to avoid them altogether if I could. RPGs are the bomb though! I'd turn into a no-lifer (back when free time is more readily available) as well if I found a game that I just couldn't resist :P

My approach for a long time too - just avoid them. Recently I gave a try to Dead Space with that 30 minutes session, as I said. It's enough to scare the crap out of me, but then it's a pleasant feeling from recovering from that :D. It's like taking a cold shower and then feeling the warmth from the environment. I love story in games (hence I love RPGs), that's why I'm willing to try even horror games :P. But yeah, time is more and more an issue the older I get, totally get it.
