And you really use a laptop with Integrated GPU: Intel HD 4000 or is that info outdated/ incomplete?

If it is true, you'll have a lot of fun if you ever end up upgrading :) and I'm sure there are a ton of games you can already enjoy with the integrated gpu

i have 2 gpus in my laptop - intel hd400 and amd hd8670m. i would love to upgrade but not planning for now, laptop runs ok for now

My bad, the curse of today, not taking the time to properly read smth. That 2nd gpu changes the whole game :D Do you spend a lot of time gaming?

not really. currently spending most of my free time learning new programming language and trying to write my own game :)

You really think one might lose all its game one day because of steam giving in?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Afraid so. big lawsuits, periods of no profit, mismanagement, who knows, many businesses sometimes fall even if it looks like they do well for a while, then suddenly, the bad news break and you get a few days notice..

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/im-longer-buying-games-steam-opinion/
its totally possible for such services to shut down, just like these have:
https://techraptor.net/content/games-republic-shutting
and Desura.. (which had great things not found elsewhere)
or some do strange things, like Green man gaming that revoked our credit when reworking their credit system.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDealsMeta/comments/3ps4g8/green_man_gaming_regarding_the_credit_situation/
They never saw me again, sale-wise. Some users even complain that their trustpilot reviews get deleted, advise serious caution. https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.greenmangaming.com?languages=en&

Just make sure that all your things are not just on one platform. its like putting all your money in one bank or investment, then if it goes south, you have nothing.

then on can also get situations where your account get paused, hacked, deleted, or suspended. reasons can vary from some new T&C's policy you unknowingly breach or if you get hacked, refusal to restore the account because you advertised your account detail/value online making it a target for hackers, who knows. who cares really, I was just commenting.

Man sorry but you need to be dumb to have your steam account hacked, you have 2FA mobile auths and if you keep your proof of purchases there's no way you can get your account stolen

Thank you for sharing all this. The example you gave about putting all your money in one bank makes sense. I might just switch to GOG for any future purchases. If I'm not mistaken a simular scenario isn't possible there cause all copies sold are DRM free.

Have a great day :)

Gog had a project once with some developer's help to move over steam games, you could look at that too.

That I already knew about :D seems to have been the perfect time to make the change of using gog more though. Got a copy of the witcher on GOG and they've implemented a steam integration now too. Neat

If steam ever closes and they don't have anything in place to allow people to run the software they own, thankfully there is a workaround for me called torrents :D

Wth. Life is only 30K hours long, right?

Permalink

I do play some games simultaneously - e.g. turn-based + idle/clickers, so it compounds the time unfairly.

What better way is there to get more than 24 hours in your day than by playing games? ;)
