A lot of people including me thought Mad Max would be shit somehow. But it turns out, it's actually really good? :o

You can buy for 19$ here or 27 here.

Maybe it's just super cheap because MGS came out same day.

Are you surprised it isn't shit?

Yes.
No.

Developers wouldn't be playing it for almost 2 hours before the game was even released if they thought it was shit

$19 is incredibly cheap for a new launch, but still more than I can do right now. I'm happy it's a success, though. :)

why? thats normal, every cod title in the past (as an example) were available for 15 bucks on the FIRST day.
it just matters which region you are looking into

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Why??

Do you really have to say why,and that is not normal...

New games here in the U.S. are usually 59.99....no matter if it is 20 bucks in say RU that still does not do any good for me as i can not get it for that price...

So i can not see how it matters by region when it does not....hell there are places where gas is less then a dollar a gallon yet i still pay over 2.00 ....so does that mean i can not say gas cost more here because in another region it is way cheaper? That is what your doing

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

uh why? You are also able to get it that cheap, there are enough sites where you can buy region keys.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Maybe i miss understood you by what you mean by region keys...

I think i might understand now.....are you trying to say there are enough places where i can buy keys for my region or do you mean where i can get cheap region keys?

If you are trying to say there are sites where i can get cheaper regions keys...Show me authorized re-sellers in the U.S. where they allow me to buy cheaper region keys not meant for my region.?I hope your other sites are not G2A and so on...as i rather pay full price then support there tactics and key thefts and bundle resales and so on.

If your meaning other sites like Nuuvem sure they still offer some keys ..but most are either region locked or buy locked...so choices are pretty slim.

Still my point to start with was that just because cheaper regions have it for cheaper does not mean everyone can get it for that price, this is why they put in region locks and buy locks and so on,to stop this kinda of thing from going on.Just because it was say 15 bucks in your region, and 49.99 in another does not mean that game could be had for 15 bucks .....i can buy gas cheaper in the south but that does me no good here...i still have to pay what they want here, yet it is cheaper in another region.

The region still does not matter,,as i can look at all the cheaper regions i want on Steam but i can not purchase any of them legit..same with sites...any authorized re-seller will only sell keys for your regions, and only offer support for purchases within my region,i am not going to risk region locks later and so on or revoked key, just so i can try get a game for say 15 bucks in your so called "sites"

As for Mad Max, I didn't expect to be bad, but I wasn't expecting it to be that good. I wish it was made for the 360 becuase i don't think my computer could run it. I don't even have the money to buy it anyway.

shady key stores

Of course they aren't authorized, it's a keyshop, like Kinguin - big gray area of market. Also the first link isn't about the shop op provided link to.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, i noticed that earlier today too. Also Kinguin has a lower price, they are doing paypal deals, which discount even more on highly discounted deals. One of them is mad max.

I'm going to risk and buy a key now, witcher 3 and shadow of mordor were a little bit over this price and worth the buy.

Permalink

Kinguin does not have a lower price. They advertised $18.52 but it never happened as the product is/was $20+.

I bought it when i posted, with the paypal fee and a 3% discount coupon, it was a little over 17€ final price.

Like i said, on the main page, they are doing paypal only offers, which discounts madmax by 2-4 bucks. Unless the price varies from country to country, it's the cheapest place i have.

God damn it. I picked it up today from GMG.Oh well, still a good deal. Some of the above comments mention that these might not be legit ways to get keys so $6 more for a legit copy, I'm not gonna sweat.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't think I'd really bothered buying from a key reseller unless it was around $10 or less. At least that way, if the key doesn't work, its just a minor cost.

Eh. A lot of these places can be looked into pretty readily. At the end of the day it's a judgement call on if it's worth whatever risk is involved

I was reading reviews of it today. The worst were by Polygon (5 outta 10) and Kotaku ("I never would have finished this game if someone wasn't paying me to do so.")

Everyone else gave it above average to really good.

Curious about the price drop.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Polygon and Kotaku are practically the same and belong to the same people, and probably reviewed the game equally poorly for the same reason, whichever it is (knowing them, the low score has nothing to do with the game itself). Anyway, I no longer get my game news and media from them, so I don't really care.

Im not surprised about the price drop. Coming out the same week as MGS5 it HAS to do something to entice people to bite now.

Never trust Polygon an Kotaku scores. I think they dock points if the game doesn't have strong female characters...

I honestly wonder what the score would be if you played as Furiosa rather than Max.
I would bet at least a 2-3 point bump-up :P

Same as movie, it's not everyone's cup of tea. But it has "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on steam. I know I liked the movie very much, so I will most likely enjoy the game very much as well.

Avalanche is a good studio, so not really.

All the negativity, and likely the launch deals, are probably due to people being so hyped up on MGS V and this releasing so close to it.

After seeing some early gameplay videos, I actually expected it to be like their other surprise hit - Shadows of Mordor. Glad to see I wasn't wrong about that :D

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm about as surprised about this being good as I was about Shadow of Mordor. Both had the telltale signs of being a game that the publishber did not really expect people to like (in the case of Mad Max it was the whole "push pre-orders extra hard" bit, and with Shadow of Mordor, it was all the restrictions put on reviewers and people showing the game in youtube videos)

Great:
"Activation successful!" for Mad Max.

And for a nice low price too. Now to find time to actually play it properly.

O.o and the disk space for it, 32GB... ouch.

This sucks, I purchased it a couple of weeks ago for about $23 but I don't seem to have a code for the Ripper :( This is even cheaper and includes it :/

Edit: Steam says my key was for Mad Max Pre-Order so I should get The Ripper, no-one else seems to know what the go is yet either.

Oh, come on. This is Avalanche Studios we're talking about.
THE very same Avalanche Studios who developed Just Cause 2.

It couldn't suck, it just... couldn't.

In all seriousness, I'm glad. If Avalanche Studios' newer games are good, it keeps my hopes up for Just Cause 3. :D
