Here's what little info I have gathered on the price and release date of Fallout 4.

  • Fallout 4 will be available for PC, Xbox One and PS4
  • it will be released this year, guess is around September/October
  • price for PS4 and Xbox version will be $59.99 and around $̶4̶5̶ $59.99 for the PC version

Source for the PC version price: Polish retailer GreyOnline

*edit: Price of the PC version is lower only in Poland and possibly Russia/CIS, for the rest game is available for pre-purchase on GreenManGaming for $59.99

I hated Zeta...corrupted my game! Could be a coincidence I suppose, but my saves were fine. Went to Zeta by accident played for a bit. Saved. Quit, decided I didn't want to be in Zeta so loaded an earlier save but it was corrupt. Loaded my Zeta save progressed more, got to a point where [avoid spoilers] and nothing happened. I watched a video to see what I did wrong, but I had done nothing wrong. Tried everything I could think of then gave up.

No, they're not doing them at the moment. Do you really think they'd let that much money go? A new title, so no established modding community, get it in right from the start so nobody can complain about existing mods and there you go.

They already said they would continue with the plan. The backend is already in place. The biggest issue was that Beth decided to jump into the heavily established community of a game they long since dropped support for expecting a warm and resounding welcome. With the new release, no such issue is there.

Considering that Bethesda games themselves have an already defined modding community, that doesn't work out. Also, if they put in paid mods again, people will get angry. It's not the fact that they put it on Skyrim, it's the fact that they put it there in the first place. Fallout 4 would be a TRAIN WRECK if they implemented paid mods as part of the system but either way it would be introduced, once again, through Steam. If they were to keep it as permanent, chances are people would just drop Bethesda AND Steam down the 'public rating list' pretty quickly.

In short, it would be the dumbest idea to ever be introduced permanently in the gaming industry. Those who contribute to modders want to pay in full, not spread it apart to the rich-as-fuck corporations.

CS also had established modding community, Valve still jumped right into it and now sell mods (called skins) for lots of money.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's different because skins are an aesthetic property that has been used in many, many games and it was also implemented in the most casual way - Aesthetics. They literally add nothing of actual value and so thus' they are 100% optional rather than, say, a mod that improves magic.

Comment has been collapsed.

Fallout and you say no established modding community? Since Oblivion all Bethesda games are literally carpet bombed by mods. There are modders who create mods for Oblivion, Skyrim, FO3 and F:NV. When new game launches, modders instantly go to work. Hell, I saw plans for FO4 mods last year. FO4 isn't here yet, but it already has modding community, believe me :P

The lower price for the PC version will very likely happen in only a few countries and RU/CIS ofc. You can check prices on some of the other retailers suggested by Bethesda for preorder and the price is the same for all 3 version, 59.99$.

And yeah, be prepared to have to pay for both DLC and mods on any future Bethesda title.

Comment has been collapsed.

  • The Complete edition/GOTY will include all DLCs.
  • Then the Super Complete Edition will also give you the paid crafting, fighting and even the mod that enables the UI!

I doubt Bethesda would do that, EA/Ubisoft would be capable of this bullshit.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You'd think that, and then you remember they're the awesome people who brought us Horse Armor and started the much hated DLC age. Then you realize they're capable of anything.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

At least they're not EA, hogging your disc space with DLCs and asking to pay for it. It's like Ransomware lite.
Installed Skyrim yesterday, the download was 13GB. Removed the hi-res texture pack -> 9GB. Removed all DLCs from the download -> 5GB. If Skyrim was made by EA, the game would have come on 3x8GB DVDs and the texture pack would be the price of the game, but already there. ("Pay only $39.99 to unlock Ultra graphics settings")

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Who knows, maybe Bethesda planned to sell us Hi-res textures as well. if i remember launch day right there was an uproar over the graphic quality of the game and the pack was released afterwards to stop people's complaints.

Not to mention that we should never forgot who started the paid mods bullshit with Valve, Bethesda, and, knowing how well Bethesda fixes their games, and knowing that it's extreamly likely that they will push paid mods again for this new title, people will very likely end up paying modders to fix the game and Bethesda will be making a profit off it. I'd say that's way up there with EA and Ubisoft in terms of greed.

Guys there will most likely be just 3 or 4 big DLC's and they will be completely worth it... This it Bethesda, remember? They are not a moneywhoring company like EA or Ubisoft with pre order now and get a free Pikachu suit for Altair and stuff like that.

At least they have the decency to repack every game into a complete edition with all DLCs included, which makes for a great deal. Look at the Mafia II DLCs. Or good luck buying all of Burnout Paradise's DLCs without ruining the game (the DLC pack also includes the one that unlocks all the cars...).

That is the mentality which makes people think certain fanbases are assholes. Just because someone wants to save money by waiting doesn't mean they are not a fan, it just means they're economically concerned about this purchase. You don't even know the effort each people must put into this purchase, for some it may be 2-3 hours of work, for others it may take several days and be in a situation where they can hardly afford an entertainment budget.

Also, GOTY only means you get the game it should have been because most DLC is just secondary content that didn't make it to release. Waiting for GOTY tells publishers you're not their toy.

If they released the GOTY edition as the edition they sell on day one I'd buy it full price without a doubt.

I just hate dicking about and waiting for 'upgrades' or 'directors cuts' and all the ugly greedy DLCs cheapening the whole affair.

I bought Skyrim because I liked it, but WHEN I made the courage to give up Romanian social norms ("why buy when there's a torrent of it?") the game was in its final form. I still got the Legendary Edition for the full price at the time on retail. That was pretty much the highest price I could go at that time that didn't give 90% to the middle man.
And as a kid here, you are either NEVER buying a game, buying a game based on your limited allowance or you have the latest Xbox and all the games are pre-order price, since the price on Xbox games is at least 10€ higher than the PC versions (Witcher 3 is about 35€ on retail for PC and >50€ for Xbox)

Most likely I'll buy the GOTY edition in a few years, when it's 66% off during some Steam sale or another and the modding community has already put in the work to make it stable, playable and decent-looking. Not going to give Bethesda a bunch of money for another half-finished game, and to be honest, I doubt I'll even have the urge to pirate a copy (though I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually).

These guys are still butthurt over TESO and they will never let go of the paid mods idea. They create a skeleton of a game using a buggy engine and leave it to the modders to fix and create content for it. Why not profit from that?

preorder costing 45$ in Poland is no indication that a game will be priced 45$ worldwide. It's common for locar polish-only retailers to sell games cheaper here, due to us earning less than western europe. And Bethesda has a history of releasig Polish-region-locked games and them being cheaper.

It's like you went to russian retailer, seen it for 30$ there and claimed based only on that that the game is going to cost 30$ for PC.

Also the retailer you linked is Gry Online not Grey Online (Gry means Games in polish). It is a mediocre in size, but known retailer - but official publisher for Bethesda games in PL is Cenega Poland and their official retail shop is muve.pl and they haven't released any pricing info yet.

Definitely excited by it, but will probably wait for the GOTY version as well. I got 3 on 360 and then roped into the DLC packs.

I still didn't finish Fallout 3 (because I was completing all quests I could see) and want to play New Vegas. Last time I played F3 I was in the middle of main game quest, but already 30th level with lots of ammo, caps, etc. So I'm not in a hurry :D Will wait for GOTY.

I got sidetracked after beating the main quest, but without playing any of the DLC. I should've known better, too. As soon as I finish any main quest, I always lose interest in a game, even if I'm loving it and still have plenty to do. Plus, I've still got New Vegas to play.

I was playing with all DLCs. Finished only Operation Anchorage among them :) That Chinese invisible armor makes game much easier :( (when you wear it and climb you have stealth-boy effect). I explored all the south part of the map (with Washington) but almost didn't see north.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I maxed almost all my stats so I lost my interest and didn't play it for a long time. It always happen with me if the game has too big open world. I think I need at least to finish main story because I still don't know the ending xD Good that I've still discovered tons of different little stories from wasteland :)
