While I suppose many of you are yet to go on holiday this summer (or winter, if you happen to be on that side of the globe), I just came back from a nice vacation in France.

I went there mainly to see my parents, whom I had not seen in about 7 years, and we stayed in a quiet corner of the french countryside where I've seen more cows than people (and, occasionally, a few geese and a rabbit).

I must say French is a weird language.
On our last day, my father went to complain to the landlady about some issues we had with the house, and it sounded to me like he was declaiming a poem... The old lady also was all giggly and kept saying things like "Oh! Oh! Oh! Bon, bon! Ohhhh allez, allez!" like she was flattened by the complaint.

Anyway, this is just a convoluted excuse to create a few private giveaways.
Note that some of them are region-restricted (see GA description):
STRIDER™ / ストライダー飛竜®
DmC: Devil May Cry
Umbrella Corpsâ„¢/Biohazard Umbrella Corpsâ„¢
If you win the above, you will have a few days to enter the following, for the DLC:
Upgrade Pack/エージェントゴーストパック
Of course feel free to enter if you already have the base game.

And finally, for the few selected in my 💙list:
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

Happy holidays! 🙋

At least French sounds nice and smooth. Some languages sound like you're coughing up all your phlegm just before kicking the bucket ;)

LOL! I must agree. I speak only four languages, but I've heard enough accents between all of them to say that some can really grind on one's ears :D

Happy Holidays and have a nice Summer, FoxCunning! :3

Thank you for your giveaways!

It sounds to me that the French landlady didn't see this coming and was surprised\unprepared for this. ;-)

She should have seen that coming, since she omitted some details about the house that had been specifically asked :>

Anyway, here's another anecdote.

One night we went to eat mussels with chips - and I thought that was a Belgian speciality... Oh, well! We were given tiny buckets where we could put the empty shells, and we had been asked to return them afterwards.

When we were finished I then volounteered to return the buckets while everyone else enjoyed a hot drink at our table. I thought I could just walk there and hand the buckets, easy!
However, the bloke who asked us to return them wasn't there, so I decided to hand them to a girl in a blue apron who was cleaning the bar where he previously stood.

She looked at me like I was a raving lunatic, and asked me a very long question in French. I tried really hard to understand the question, then gave up and said "Je ne parle pas français", which is almost all the French I know.

Either she did not understand or she did not believe me, because she asked exactly the same thing again.
I also repeated that I don't speak French, adding "Désolé" for good measure.
She repeated the same question yet again, exactly as before.
I finally just said "OUI!" out of desperation, put the buckets in her hands and ran away 😅

Mussels with Belgian fries, mayonnaise and a glass of Belgian beer is indeed an Belgian specialty, not a French one. :-)

Asking three times the same question? Maybe she was teasing you. ;-)

The thing with the French language is that they have many exceptions to their grammar rules and in certain parts of France the people speak a dialect/patois.

I agree with you, French is a weird language, even for French people :)
