So, recently, I discovered this artist. He goes by the name of Silva Hound.

How I found him? The incredibly large MLP fan music archive. But that isn't the important part.

The important part is that most of the time, he remixed old songs into house songs based on MLP characters.

But his first 6 or so albums have been mostly wiped off of the Internet (I have no idea why).

One of these albums is named "The Royal Wedding EP". I listened to one of the songs, and found it incredibly familiar.

It bothers me dearly that I cannot figure out for the life of me what this is a remix of.

And I figured, hey, can't SG help? My first thought- no. But then I remembered. I have incentives!

I bought Gravi from the Alpha Fundle Bundle, and Eleusis from the Groupees Be Mine 8. I don't yet have the Steam keys for those, but I figure I will soon. (I can prove both of these through screenshots.)

So, to whoever can find/tells me the original song will be promised one of those games (of their choice).

However, if the original is not the one I know,(and I don't believe it is) if someone finds the version/other remix that I know, I will give them either one of those keys or something from my inventory.

I beg of anyone who is trying this who is not a brony to ignore the vocals and audio cuts within the song.

The song is here, and the part that I recognize is from around 1:05 onwards, so this link will go straight to 1:05.

Don't bother looking at his Bandcamp. I already tried.

And one tip, the only thing I can remember about the version I know- it's incredibly repetitive. Even more so than this one.

I was thinking about making a private giveaway and giving the link to everyone who finds the original, but I cannot promise the key within a week or two. So this is how I'm doing it, and you're all going to have to just trust me on this.

If it proves to be very difficult, you may work together. But whoever posts a comment/IMs me on Steam with the original/the remix I know, they will be promised the game of their choice.

Thank you in advance.

I recognise it as well. Might be an Eiffel 65 song, or another band, I'll need to see if I can find my music backup DVD.

Thanks. I was really surprised at my recognition of the song, as most of the songs he mixed are way before my time.

Hm.. I'm still confused at the fact that I recall a remix of the song, not the original.

This might be what triggered my recognition.

I'm going to be completely honest, I don't see the similarity.

Good song though.

I posted after the start, since that was sounding similar to me, but it does seem the rest goes off. Bugger. Well, I'll keep listening to Eiffel 65 and hope I'm on the right track.

Maybe I should mention my hearing sucks... :P

Shazam says this, but it's probably wrong.

'Scuse my while I clear my history now.

Look on the bright side, you are only clearing History, I'm stuck listening to Eiffel 65 to try and identify it.

Yeah, Archie's in the archive. Basically everyone that released anything before December 2012 is on it.

(And that song is good, but Alex S. is better, kekeke.)

This sounds awfully familiar and now you've got me wondering too

I'm starting to hope that everyone will think alike to you and we'll start a huge effort to finding the origin of this song. Dicking Silva Hound. I managed to find sources of almost EVERY song from EVERY album, EXCEPT The Royal Wedding.

It sounds like the beginning of "Another one bites the dust" by Queen.

I think this one is a lot quicker and more upbeat. Also, I don't even know if the original has lyrics.

I've already asked you, and the picture is appreciated.

I would post a Pinkie Pie .gif here, but I honestly don't feel like Googling anything. Eugh.

I spent like a dicking hour looking for 1 specific Pinkie gif from the first episode, and didn't find it.

I did find this (SO ADORABLE) and this, though.

It kinda sounds like this.

As far as I know, remixing songs like that is Silva Hound's style.

Kinda funny, too. The first song from Equestrian Lover is a Chic remix.

It definitely sounds like the original is a funk song. Funk songs get sampled a lot in electronic music.

Another possibility for the original song. EDIT: Doesn't sound like it that much.

Yeah, I listened to it. Doesn't sound like it at all.

Yeah. Daft Punk, Justice, Cassius, and well a lot of house music samples from the disco era. I have no idea what song was sampled in this song though. I mean I still think there's a good chance it good be a song by Chic considering Nile Rogers is a really popular guy to sample from.

Have you tried talking to this silva sth guy ? He has his channel, bandcamp and facebook.

no need to thank :)

As far as I know, you can't contact through bandcamp, and he's fairly popular, so I doubt leaving a comment on YT/FB would help at all.

I suppose I'll look in to it, though.

(But I seriously have no idea why he deleted those albums..)

I'm serious- trying to contact a fandom-famous artist will not get me anywhere. Besides, that defeats the whole purpose of having a giveaway.

Daft Punk - Around The World sounds a little bit similiar

Well you have the whole "repetitive" thing down. Other than that, no, not at all.

Desidiodus posted the same song, only a different mix.

They do sound incredibly similar, now that I think of it, but both versions are definitely not the version I remember.

If either of you can prove that Silva Hound's song is a remix of this, I'll probably just give Desidiodus a game.

Perhaps you remember some other song that sampled Good Times? Or one the many remixes?

Like I said, there is a VERY high chance that what I remember is a remix.

I'm quite young and don't recognize a lot of these songs that have been suggested. (Except Daft Punk. Everyone knows Daft Punk.)

This is my last idea ;) Theres a few similiar samples. Maybe there is the one which are you lookin for :P

Some of those are pretty good, but that's besides the point.

What I recall is almost exactly what Silva Hound made, only mixed in a more repetitive fashion.

Shazam directs me to this (it has nothing to do with your song but who knows :P)

What is this "Shazam" thing and why is it terrible at finding what songs are mixes of?

It's an app for phones that listens to a song and tries to recognize it. Another similar app is SoundHound.

Permalink

Oh, that makes sense. I don't have a phone that can have apps installed, personally.

It's an app for mobile phones that tells you the name of a song. The part at 1:05 sounds as one part of the song I linked you to, that's why it found that one. It looks for similar songs, not for mixes, etc.
