I'd say Halo, but with every sequel, it fades further into obscurity.

Red Dead Redemption. I truly do not understand the appeal, every aspect was laughable.

If you don't understand the appeal of something, that's your deficiency. You don't have to share the opinion, but a lack of understanding is your failure, not the thing being liked.

In the case of RDR, the appeal was a sandbox game in a western setting, which is a popular gamestyle in a pretty neglected period.

I think you're confused, the OP asked for opinions. There's always a valid argument against anything being overrated, games are subjective. In my opinion, the western setting is still neglected as RDR was basically a B-movie rendition of history. If you're in to that, great. I thought the characters were shallow, voice acting terrible, massive open world space boring and tedious, and gameplay a series of uninspired fetch quests. The idea of a sandbox game in a western setting is very appealing, I would like to play a good one someday.

Dark Souls 2. Shitty setup, confusing, and not fun.

Halo 1, yeah it was the first Halo game, but I can't play the game for more than 30 mins without getting bored outa my mind. I feel like the game is just way to casual for me; the campaign honestly was pretty good though. But it dosen't deserve all the hype it gets.

Oh, I love those threads! And most overrated game for me is definitely Popular-game-that-I-don't-like-because-it-has-something-that-I-don't-like. Everyone that likes that game must be a total idiot.

You can't prove anything and I don't care about your arguments. That game totally sucks and it's the only correct opinion.

Bioshock Infinite - it pains me that nowadays to be such a praised "story-heavy" game you dont need to have any kind of pace. There’s 1-2 hours of great non-combat gameplay, then 10 hours of shooting and huge infodump in last 20 minutes about something, that if you at least try to use your brain, you already figured out. And don’t even find the combat in that game half-terrible.

Lots of games get way too much praise that I feel mostly revolves around them being the first 3D game in their series (often, IMO, to the series' detriment). The biggest example is probably Ocarine of Time IMO. Is it a good game? Sure. Did first person aiming (meh) and 3D platforming (ugh) bring any excitement to the series that wasn't present in ALttP or Link's Awakening? Hell no.

Other such examples:

  • Metroid Prime. Super Metroid was amazing, Prime tried too hard to be Nintendo's response to the popularity of FPS games.
  • Final Fantasy VII. A great game, but despite the fact that VIII improved upon it in pretty much every gameplay oriented (I have no opinion on which has the better story), this game continues to be the most talked about in the series.
  • Borderlands 2. They dumbed down the loot system and made it less "Diablo II but with guns" and more "generic FPS with slight ARPG elements"

BL 2's story is just incredible, so does the insanity-factor. But as I heard from lots of places, there was a much bigger variability in terms of weapons in the first one. (Already playing it :) ) It's quite sad that they dropped such a great concept :\

Insert popular game/s that I didn't like here.
Insert comment from people who didn't dislike those games under this comment explaining why those games were actually great. (Replaced with "+1" comments if the game is universally hated by everyone who'd comment on the forum.)

^This thread and any other time someone asks for overrated games in a nutshell.

So to answer your question: From the games I've played I'm split between Tomb Raider 2013 which doesn't deserve any praise whatsoever (but of course since it's AAA was deemed "amazing" from anyone who'd be distracted by the "pretty" graphics) and The Walking Dead (season 1 since I haven't played season 2 yet) which absolutely did NOT live up to the hype people put into it- choices that affect stuff my ass, miserable "puzzles" if I can even call them that, a grim dark story where comic relieve exists only to die (I don't like stories that try to take themselves too seriously) and with few exceptions mainly unlikeable characters (though I'd praise them for making one of the few likeable ones the main protagonist of the second season, I'm afraid to think of how much damage being raised to player character status will do to her common sense).
Ok, I'm done. You can say how absolutely wrong I am about The Walking Dead now. :P
