Hi guys!

Now that I've finished my first game, I'm back on my dream game: An ARPG heavily inspired by Diablo 2!

This year I started turning my ARPG into 3D, started a roguelike strategy game... and well, did some other stuff!
Let's see what I achieved in 2022 and my plans for 2023!

I also copied the items' sprites as placeholders so I can look at something until I find an artist.

Never played Diablo 2 but I loved playing Diablo 3 on console, good luck on your journey and I'll be sure to check it out when it's done! :)

Let me check... Nope, not interested. There are some great Diablo clones out there which actually bring new stuff to the genre (Victor Vran, Van Helsing, Grim Dawn and Titan Quest). This is not one of them, plus it "takes" a lot of stuff straight from Diablo 2 (just watch that movie and you will understand what i mean)...

But, good luck with it.

My game won't be a Diablo clone. I just said that the the game has its roots in the classic Diablo games.
But on that base, there will be unique twists on the ARPG genre.

What do you mean "take a lot of stuff straight from Diablo 2"?
Did you mean the placeholder item sprites, names and sounds? If this is the case then maybe I wasn't clear enough, and I'm sorry:
But as I said these are all placeholder assets only for MY pleasure. As soon as someone else can touch the game, there won't be any copyrighted stuff in it.

Hope I could clear it up, if not then I'm open ears! :)

Ah, yes, i've missed the placeholder stuff, so i apologize for that. The good luck wish remains.

As you are only one person, it will be tremendously hard to replicate the success of AA and AAA studios. It's a really ambitious project for one person.

Yes, it is, I estimated around 3 years in total when I was alone, but now I have a 3D artist, a tester, and possibly a 2D artist. So hopefully things will fasten up :D

i wish you luck ,but that genre youre going for is highly competite and saying its diablo inspired is one of the worst ways to go ..
As far as i saw every game diablo "inspired" got backlash from diablo community with trash comments .
diablo community sadly super toxic .

Yeah, even within my close friends I know some people who are pretty serious about Diablo or some other game and every change or flaw usually triggers them. Which I kind of understand and also don't.
Thanks for reminding about this, by the end of the projects I will solely focus on the unique selling points of the game instead of comparing it to Diablo. But in these early stages I think I will continue to mention Diablo because it gathers attention, even if it also attracts some hardcore people who trash my videos :D

Question about the item system - are you going to keep the "inventory Tetris" a lot of diablo-likes have? IMO it got old, but some people seem to like it, and I obviously don't speak for a majority

Yes, I was, thanks again! :) Most likely this game will be playable only in English due to the genre.
Buuut: I would be more than happy to have you as a tester! :D
The closed tests will be organised on my Discord, but if you're subscribed to my channel then you will surely be notified of the public tests! :)

The game definitely looks a lot better than it did back in March of last year. Congrats on the progress so far. :)

As it stands at the moment what is your current vision of what the health and mana holders will look like when finally finished?

Thanks! :) Can't wait to finally have polished 3D assets and launch its Steam page! :) (But first I'll launch the a Steam page for my roguelike-strategy game ;) )

Regarding the health and mana holders... do you mean visually? Or mechanically? Visually I'll stick to the classic ARPG globe, but I'll try to come up with some unique style. Mechanically, currently there is just a minor twist on the basic health system: you only regenerate your health if you are out of combat for a few seconds, and it only fills up to some degree. So getting back health through items, effects, consumables will be a real adventure. And not just spamming a health potion. :D

But the health and other systems may vary drastically: one unique feature I plan to have is that there won't be classes, instead you can switch between "playstyle changing" "presences". While you can build any combination of skills on the skill tree. By "playstyle changing presences/buffs" I mean for example...

  • Blood Presence: increases your mana by 25%, but spells also drain your health by 15% of the mana cost.

  • Insane Presence: An insanity bar appears on your interface. Below 100: Your skills generate insanity, and every second 1 insanity is removed. Above 90 insanity, you deal 10% more damage, and take 5% less. When you reach 100 insanity, for 10 second you deal 10% more damage, take 5% less, but your damageโ€™s 10% also damages you. Then you return to 50. Or something like this.

But these are haven't been playtested, so we will see... :D Hope I got you interested ;) (the subscribe button is always there :D )
