Humble Bundle CD-Keys

Hello,

I want to ask, if I buy something from Humble Bundle it gives me 2 option choices which is "Redeem on Steam™" or "Gift to a friend". Now, will the cd-key still be working if I chosen "Redeem on Steam™" but I give it to another user besides me? (The key is not redeemed on Steam of course)
