As someone too lazy to test, not certain. but since it was already automated before, why do a change if it works the same?

I don't use function "remember password" so its impossible to forget it for me :) Somebody trying to steal my account will have to wait way longer (if he has access to my e-mail) or I'll receive information like: 3 years 2 months ago somebody wanted to change your password xD

that's how it works on well divided market ;) but in PC games digital retail they pretty much hold monopoly :) They have most titles, most popular service, All your friends aleready use it, you own most of your games on their service already and so on and on ;) You may be angry at them, but until they REALLY screw you over - like they say now you have to pay us 50$ monthly subscription - you will keep using it nonetheless because of reasons mentioned above ;)

Didn't they already tried the subscription thing in roundabout way with paid mods? We may be joking now, but I feel Valve will have more bright ideas soon, like say charging for downloading or 5% of items worth trading fee. And it doesn't even sound that implausible anymore :(

this is instruction for main client, new system was introduced in Beta client only for now afaik (also ppl in Beta group reporting it's not working yet and returns errors). Instructions will probably change only when the change goes live in main client.

Well now the only option is to tattoo my password somewhere private in case. It'll be easier.

"Hang.. Just hang on a sec, I need to check something. :rummages through pants:"
"Is everything alright?"
"Yeah.. Yeah, just need to.. just need the password."
"To.. get into your pants?"
"No, don't be silly-
I wouldn't even know where to tattoo that."

Unfortunately, I'm only allowed to whitelist you once, and you already earned that in the freedom-of-marriage thread.
But I want to whitelist you two more times for that comment, it's sheer brilliance.
Unfortunately, all I can offer is a "Hey, did you see this yet?" in regards to http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/THY9O/my-first-whitelist-appreciation-event-anyone-can-participate .
Well, and kitty pictures.

Awww... that's just lovely. Really, thanks for making me smile when I wasn't expecting it. And this is before I look at the kitty picture.
D'awwww XD

That's after.

Fair turnaround for your efforts to promote faith in humanity, I'd say.
Great steam wishlist by the way (the fact that 85% of the games on there are either on my wishlist or owned games totally doesn't give me bias), several great-looking games on there I've not seen before, or forgot about [Oh, Barbie Dreamhouse Party, how could I forsake you so easily? I'M SO SORRY.]
...which unfortunately, quite sabotages my ever-continuing efforts to reduce my wishlist size :P

That's why SteamSupport got an "F" on the FU customer support policy.

"guys that take several weeks to respond"?
To me it seems like an automated system of canned replies (that takes weeks to respond).

Oh, goddammit all to hell. Steam needs to stop messing around with things, all in the name of keeping us safe from ourselves*
. I am not a moron. In all of my time on Steam, I have never once had issues with my account.
I shouldn't have to suffer just because other folks do stupid crap. :u
*
And by ourselves, I mean keeping their asses from being liable when someone does a dumb.

Eh. Just jot down your passes on a notebook or something. Unless your handwriting is more akin to chicken scratch that should keep you covered.

Oh god, I hope they'll have a faster system in place rather than this.

Now people will never forget their passwords and be extra careful with their accounts to avoid needing to change it.
Update works.

"What. I just want to access my account, send the reset link to my email please"
"We've investigated the issue and you've been locked out of the market
Thank you for contacting steam support"

It's actually new page: https://help.steampowered.com/#HelpWithLogin?redir=clientlogin
Link in client is broken thought, I had to 'extract' URL from client.
Edit: I was initially very worried too.

Now when you have forgotten your password, the reset request goes through Steam Support. You know, the guys that take several weeks to respond. Who thought that was a good idea?
