How many games have you filtered out?

Well I dunno how long you've been at it, but I've been hitting the Ignore button ever since they first introduced it as the Not Interested button, so I've been at this a while and that's a part of it. If you REALLY want to pump up those rookie numbers, tho, here's my regimen!

1. Leave no game unmarked. Anytime I go to a game's page, it either goes on the wishlist or it goes in the ignore pile. There's no room for just letting a game sit in limbo. Everything gets marked. EVERYTHING.

2. I use ESGST here on SteamGifts, so I can see if I've already got a giveaway game wishlisted/ignored or not. If it says I don't, I go to the Steam page to check, and if it really is unmarked, I mark it immediately, then come back to SG to either hide or enter the giveaway. NO MERCY.

3. Every time I go to the Steam homepage, I go through the Featured & Recommended showcase. There's always at least three or four games I haven't marked, and they get marked before I go on to anywhere else on the site. It may not be much, but every little bit helps. CONSTANT VIGILANCE.

4. I hit the Discovery Queue every day, at least once a day, often more, and usually multiple times in a row each visit. The first round is usually the one that will have a couple or more games for wishlisting. Everything else after that tends to be grist for the ignoring mill. GRIND GRIND GRIND.

5. Every once in a while, I'll pull up Steam's search without entering anything so I get the site's entire catalogue. Typically I sort by release date, but any sort of sorting will sort just fine, then I just go down the line and strike down anything that doesn't look interesting, which is admittedly the vast majority of it. CUT THE FAT.

6. I generally don't care for demos these days, so sometimes I just go into the search and hit the filter for demos and hit Ignore on every single one. This helps keep the occasional demo from popping up in my Discovery Queue as well as bulk the hell out of numbers. FEED THE FILTER.

7. To help with these last few entries, I use the Augmented Steam addon for Firefox. With its little dropdown menu that lets me wishlist or ignore without even having to go to the game's actual page, it makes the process quick and easy. THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE RIGHT JOB.

Follow these seven easy steps and YOU TOO can become a GAME FILTERING POWERHOUSE!!!

It all comes down to your preferences, I think. I try to only leave the games I might like playing, AND might have time to finish. So this leaves out a lot of awesome, but "endless" games.
