Winner of the award that now means less than Paul Christoforo? Oh, no. Whatever will they do?

Seriously, I don't understand why anyone thinks EA, or anyone with any sense, actually care about that award. The moment they gave it to a video game company instead of, I don't know, companies who destroy people's lives, it lost any meaning it may have had. So some people got butthurt over Mass Effect 3's ending. Boo-fucking-hoo. Get over it. The Bank of America is laughing at you.

Well, dumb people making dumb choices while dealing with companys that allows it is not the same as EA's policy. I mean seeing the whole "democracy" and law system, and the way they let dumb people do F-ed up shiet is kinda scares me as a guy who lives in EU. Sure, there always will be rules that let companys suck money out of dumb people, but e.g. you mentioned bank of america, well you could go to other banks, who offer more suitable deals, but in EA's case they pretty much bought the sport franchise rights, whole dev studios, so if you want to play those games you can't just go to an another publisher to play those games of that sort.

Sure, this seems like "nothing" compared to real world issues, but there you have a choice, a lot of companys make the same products, services, you can chose, but since EA bought franchises and studios, you can't just get an another ME with a working multiplayer structure instead of the peer-to-peer garbage. You can't just play EA's games at an another developer, where you can get the contents for much less money, and in a much more polished, finished, decent state.

That's the difference. In real world you can get the same service at tonns of companys, which makes some of those company to set their goal to make quality product/service for best price, while EA just buys everything it wants, and suck the money out of the franchises and puts the base game content into DLCs, and forces releases to be too early.

p.s. I don't care about ppl dying in ME3's ending.

Taking a position is fine. Taking an immature position is taking a position that's immature. I'm not sure what the point of your post was.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, man. What's immature is not calling it SimShitty, because it is shitty (and that's a very mild way to call it).

Being mature means you have to take positions and responsibility and call things by their real name and nature, instead of burying your head in the sand.

Okay, a simple question: why is it not SimShitty? It's a fundamentally broken game, by design, with an engine that simply isn't able to scale and never will (the developers directly admitted it on Reddit), and you're not building a city, but a small suburb. Disregard the entire online thing and modding issues for now. Why is it SimCity, and not SimShitty?

I'm not calling you immature because you think it's a bad game. I don't follow the news, but everything I hear is that it is still absolutely fundamentally broken. That's fine. That's your position. The immaturity comes with naming it the equivalent of "Haha, Call of Doody!"

I think it's the other way around. You are placing an equality sign between "Call of Doody" and "SimShitty", which is utterly wrong, because one is objectively a good game, and the other isn't.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You're right, SimCity is better than Call of Duty. You're still missing the point.

The point is that, whatever you feel about the game, no-one cares if you can't be mature and objective about it. You used that word yourself. "SimShitty" is not objective. "SimCity is a fundamentally broken game and here's why" is. You ask why game journalists don't call it SimShitty? Maybe because they have a job and they actually know how to do it better than you do.

Sure, it fueled their DLC sales and was a great lod of PR for them while most of those games, at least in their basic edition, didn't get too much sales anymore, I guess. They might just have made more money by doing that than by not doing.

"we will not be providing bigger city sizes"

The "game" is fundamentally broken and cannot be fixed. You have your official confirmation right there. They chose a path without a future, there's a severe design flaw at the core, and you'll keep building your little suburbs until the game is scrapped entirely.

Comment has been collapsed.

Not to sound like a child and say "NO, THAT'S DIFFERENT!" but the games have very different dlc types. While modders will make generic new weapons and stuff for Bethesda games, Bethesda will make DLC with huge storylines and stuff, something modders rarely bother with. Since Bethesda can make this stuff at a professional level faster than modders, there will always be appeal to buy them. While games like Sim City or Battlefield, the DLC is just new maps, new stuff to use, etc. Modders can do that too and much more. If Sim City were to start having storylines added to it with tons of voice actors and storyline scripting, then yeah, mods will have nothing on the DLC and EA wont have anything to worry about.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Just saying. ;) That said, that was actually the DLC I enjoyed the most. Dawnguard screwed a lot of stuff up and Dragonborn had a lot of gimmicks that could have been great (much like the base game).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I couldn't check the link primarily because I forgot to set my birthday, but whatever. lol The game has gimmicks because of Bethesda's error, which is a shame but that is what they do best. I never played Skyrim or many of their games for that matter, but the DLC for fallout 3 was poop as well (except there was that one DLC that was good). Regardless, this doesn't stop people from buying it (at least to my knowledge???). Mods might actually encourage people to buy them since some mods require them as a base or whatever the terminology is that I cannot remember.

The real thing is... Why are there people who play SimCity out there? Just why? I don't care about EA "ruining" (they don't ruin anything, they just put restrictions) SimCity, but I do care when I see people whining about this stupid game all over and over again... It's like PES, Fifa, Fifa Manager, Sims, etc... People whine about those stupid games, but they fail to realize that they are the same each year... Even a 10 years old kid could take Fifa/PES/Fifa Manage 2013 and change a few stuff and present it us... Fifa/PES/Fifa Manager 2014... Same.Stupid.Games.Over.And.Over.Again... INSANITY... Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is?

BTW, "Because some people enjoy those games" isn't an answer. It's only an excuse. You don't buy the same game each year because you "enjoy" it... Especially when that game is SimCity... I got it with my new graphics card, and it's there,in my Origin account, and will be there for ages and ages...
