The only benefit I can think of is that I can verify that a link is not used before going through with the the trade. Is there any other benefit?

Is this not enough of a reason to prefer links?
I don't know about you but for me and most of the traders,if not all, the main concern is safety and profit of course.

I guess it is a good reason. So you just visit the link right before giving it in the trade?

Links are easy to brute force and get stolen, if you plan on using them just don't generate them in advance.

Is this security issue specific to one site? Because the links I see created by indiegala.com and humblebundle.com have very long strings with hardly any overlap between them.

I've had about a dozen Humble links brute forced in 2 separate occasions. Since then, I no longer generate them until I'm ready to give them away. Support was able to restore them each time but it's been a pain. I have not personally had any trouble with indieGala links, but a friend of mine had a similar issue.

Now that we can see the keys again, I just copy those to my keys file and distribute them instead when trading or gifting.

Wow... if this issue still exists then it's a very strong reason not to use gift links, far more than any reason in favor of them.

The thing is, I prefer to keep either a link or the key in a separate document which I use for managing trades. I'd rather not have to log into the site and look for them before a trade. Creating links just-in-time would be less convenient than simply copying the keys.

For those older bundles where you have to use links, I keep the bundle page in my key document (with a note beside it) so I can at least quickly get to the bundle and generate the link. But for anything newer I just show the key and keep that in my document instead.

You can verify the link is still good and if it is from an old bundle it is highly unlikely to be revoked from credit card or other fraud.

It is also handy for this site as you can see how redeems the game which just makes it easier to verify if they actually redeemed it to there account .I also like it to keep track if i have used it or not as sometimes i forget about bundle left overs and and with just a key and no way to mark it as used sometimes it can be a guessing game.

I also think it just easier dealing with the links as you do not have to be logged into steam to redeem them, you can just sign into the website.

Anyhow those are the pros i like a about them and i do prefer the only links myself.

This is only true for old links, from before Steam pulled the plug on OAuth. Nowadays, you just get the Steam key from links.

Well that is what i meant

I like the keys for other reason like it makes a GA easier but at the same time it makes it more of a risk to trade and so on

Either way we have to deal with it now, though i never been a huge fan of digital myself but i have my reasons

for Humble links, won't the receiver also get OSTs, DRM free download link, and other bonus content as well (if any is available of these are available)?

Not from what I've seen... just the game. The extra's redeem to the original purchaser's account unless you gift the whole bundle.

I like to give humble links in case people want the item added to their humble library for whatever reason. But I never generate the links until I'm ready to give it out.

HB gift links also give the person you traded with a chance to get the key link and gift it to somebody else, which can be useful.

Gift links force to enter your e-mail or register on site (Humble Bundle, I dont know how other bundle sites works), so, if you never heard about them or didnt visit their site/ buy smth on their site/etc, you'll be like a new user (POTENTIAL CUSTOMER) after activating gift link. Keys dont allow to advert "mother source" of the free game. Something like this and IMHO :)
