Is it worth to buy just base game without RoS? 20€ is tempting but I'm not sure how not having RoS would impact my game experience. Any thoughts?

I already forgot I bought this game once. Maybe It's worth a second try without the auction house and the 2.0 loot patch now.

I had too, until some weeks ago. Then I created a new game and leveled up to level 60 in less than 5 days x) Honestly, it's a very good game now :)

With my less than stellar connection, the 'always online' nonsense is a deal-breaker.

I got 2MB connection shared with 9 others. Should I buy it?

No idea. Like I said, a deal-breaker for me, so I've never bought it. It'd probably depend if you get any down/upstream during peak hours. You'll probably get better speeds than me. Our home network is on 'Rural Broadband', which means ideally, we have a max down of 1.5m and maybe 1m up. Given that someone in our house is always hogging the bandwidth, during peak hours, we're lucky if other connections if the household get 28k on browsing. I honestly have no idea what their minimum connection speed requirements are.

Thing is that there are no 'offline' saves like in Diablo 2. Your Single Player character is your BattleNet character. They say it's an 'anti-cheating' measure, but really, it's developer laziness combined with the 'who doesn't have a high speed connection today' mentality. By my understanding, if your connection goes down, you're kicked from gameplay and the game is essentially a brick.

I thought they patched that out?

If they did, they haven't update their site to reflect it. For that matter, if they did, I haven't found anything solid on it.

They haven't. I love rubber banding in single player game.

i bought it for 23€ and i don't regret it - played the shit out of it.

...on week days I even think about RoS for 35€....

Unless you really want to play a Crusader, not having RoS will not hamper your game experience in any way.

It will, cuz you can't lvlup to 70 without RoS

The base game also starts dropping items you can only use if you have RoS, like "legendary" crafting materials and level 61 items. If you don't have RoS you'll be reminded by the game on a regular basis. That said, it's still a lot of fun. I expect RoS will be as well.

I'd say resist the urge, i get it too from time to time but i just go to youtube, watch people grind that goblin for a few minutes and then move on.

Get Torchlight 2 or play Path of Exile, they're both much better choices imho.

Just in case you want to buy it, replace eu.battle.net with us.battle.net and buy it as a gift. Then pay only 20$=15€ and "gift" the key to yourself ;)

Yes, that works without doing anything fishy. You'd wonder how bad some stores are coded, if you disable Javascript you can do that as well with the Origin store ;D

I bought the base game last week for $20 and I've been playing only D3 ever since. This game is so much fun! I don't know about the previous state of the game with the Auction House but I can say that I really enjoy the game now. Tons of loots, extremely fun to masacre everything in my path :D

I've spent over 300 hours playing Diablo III. I highly recommend it. In fact I won't be getting the expansion because I don't want to lose more of my life to Diablo when I've got so many other games to play.

Bought it day one and I wasn't sorry. Not a big Diablo fan either, played about 60 hrs of it. So yeah, for that price its worth it.

Buy it only if you are grind for gear maniac, otherwise dont, you will get game done in 4h or so and the grind and grind and thats all.I have bought it since 1st time release and regreted it.Bought it because i tought it will be like diablo 2 but it was real dissapointment, about expansion paying 30€+ for 1 act and 1 hero it is too much, and about loot 2.0 it was supposed to be implemented long time ago when game was released and not now.
You have much more fun games to spend your money.
BTW I am huge fun of blizzard games and own them all but blizzard 3 imo is dissapointment .

I suggest trying Path of Exile. The gameplay is similar enough, and there's zero financial investment.

I do prefer Diablo 3 myself, but I like Path of Exile as well. It is a worthy alternative to Diablo 3, far better than any F2P generally has been.

If you think connectivity (always on) might be an issue, d/l & play Path of Exile for awhile. See if you can handle an always on game. If you can, the D3 for $20 is worth it in my opinion. $40 for RoS is insulting. I think it should be $20 at best, $10 preferably.

Torchlight II is the best of kind (not including classics like Diablo I and II). Path of Exile is good enough too but only if you like multiplayer games. It's going pretty hard not to play in company with healers, tanks etc.

It has had alot of major improvements since it's release, and for that price, yes, definitely worth it.

Just get Torchlight 2 instead off steam, much more fun plus they support the steam/mods put in the game so you can get a lot more out of one game than whatever Blizzard offers with D3.
