well nice graphics sure are one of the most important things but the gameplay and a lil bit of plot are too one of the core things that make a game good.

specific example:
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series has nice graphics and the gameplay ain't bad too but the thing is it lacks variety. You have 1 ultimate attack and 1 special move per character.
The Naruto Ultimate Ninja series in comparison has 1 ultimate, 2 specials (changes depending on team mate you can choose) and a hidden ability.

Therefore the Storm series is shit because it is always the same moves. So all in all it always depends on the game itself how creative the developer was and how much effort they put in.
