I want to check if someone owns the game already, but he got it on private settings..
is there any possibility?

Update: He blocked me on Steam..

Update: SG Supports did the checkup, but how?

Answer: he is clean <-- cuz of the last sync he did?
What about the time between?

SGTools the better way of Gifting!?

Does it protect my value of a GA and as Gifter more?

Thanks for your help!

You can ask SG support to check a private Steam Profile.

Request new winner ticket and ask to check and advise you because of the private Steam profile.

okay i see. so essentially bug support to bug the winner to resync?? cause its not like the support member can toggle private to public for the sync themselves.

edit: sry if i sound like im trying to argue, im not, just confused.

if the last time they sync'd they owned the game in question, they would not have been able to enter the GA to win it a second time. i guess if they resynced between the two times, but personally i just feel this is kind of a waste of the supports time when support already knows that the sync will not allow people to enter into something they own.

edit: thank you though, that is apparently what they meant too =)

I don't know how they do it but they do it. I have send a number of those kind of request new winner tickets and either they got denied and SG support says that the winner his/her Steam account is in order and I may send the game or I do get a re-roll.

Afaik SG support checks those private Steam profiles on already owned, all activated and no multiple wins.

SG support does have some "power"tools as I even heard that they can read deleted forum messages. :-)

Well Support tolds me that hes clean. But when between his last sync and now happend stuff?

What if I Only sync every Year ... I find that suspicous!
Also he blocked me on Steam :P

To my mind SGTools GA is going to be the better way of gifting?

All profiles are required to sync every 7 days, just in case of public profiles it can happen without user interaction.
If a private profile does not sync for more than a week, it can not enter giveaways (any).

What happens when he got the game inbetween--- let me guess "suspended"

"Punishable" actions are listed at the end of the Roles page (it is linked in the footer of every page). Having the game and winning it is shady and grants you a reroll, but probably does not result in suspension.

I made 1000+ SGTools giveaways and I like them, I make them, I enter them and I love their functionality and filters.

However people with a private Steam profile can also enter SGTools giveaways as I have had such winners. But each time I have a winner with a private Steam profile I ask SG support to check and advise.

From my own giveaway experiences I can say that these winners are far and few between as in a total of 2000 giveaways I have had about a dozen of them.

if he's so stupid, yes, blacklist for making me and support waste time. wait 7 days to deliver as bonus.

sure. i already did that a few times. you add the person, he makes the profile public to friends (doesn't have to be completely public), you check and then he can make it private again. no big deal, really.

Yes - absolutely. I have a private profile, but have never refused anyone who has asked me to temporarily set it to public.

I have one that I have asked to do this - but they refuse to acknowledge my attempts on steam, and one even as a fake email addy on SG - so could not email that one about the win ! - sometimes wish people were a little bit more engaged with the games they enter :P

if he blocked you and you have a screenshot of that you can ask for a reroll on the grounds of "refused to accept gift".
or ask support to check if he has a clean profile

This. If I see a private profile, I add the user so I can check out their previous wins. The site allows private profiles, so I feel like making a big fuss about it is silly.
