Did you read that correctly? Yes you did. I want to introduce my mom to (PC)gaming, but I'm looking for a suited game. She's looking for a calm game, perhaps a indie or puzzle game. Nothing too difficult or intense, just a friendly game with a good soundtrack. Do you guys have any suggestions for my mom? Thanks in advance! Best suggestions: Fez, Portal, To the moon, thomas was alone, Eufloria, Solar, Osmos, Strata, World of Goo, VVVVVVV

The aesthetic looks good, but I don't think she'll like a card game, as you can do that "off-line". But thanks for the suggestion mate!

How about Thomas was Alone?

I second this (Thomas was alone, NOT barbie!). Cute, funny, engaging, fairly laid-back. It's a bit more platformy than puzzly, but has elements of both.

Try one of those so-called "casual games" from Gamehouse or PopCap. My mom liked Zuma the most. It's only 2.5 euro now in the sale.

That's a good suggestion, but I'm hinting at a PC game, as this is the type of game you can also play on android devices.

The tags violence, blood and crude humor are not my moms favorite ;D

What? Did you read the right tags? No blood in the game, no crude humor and pretty much no violence.
Heartmelting story with beautiful graphics, but quite short (~3 hours)

I watched the start of the video, there I found the disclaimer tags.

Well, those disclaimers are just to be safe. The story is very powerful, and I highly recommend it.

I beg to differ, there is A LOT of violence in this game, a lot of blood too. I would not want to say it out loud 'cuz it would spoil the experience (I was shocked too when I walked into the valley full of **...so many blood)

I'm more looking for a game she doesn't have to invest a lot of time in, a game you can quickly play a level off.

What about some aventure games like Broken Sword or the Blackwell games? If she likes puzzles then I'd recommend Pandora's box. It's a microsoft-published puzzle game by Alexej Pazitnov, the creator of tetris. It's about pandora's box being open mixing the world up and the player has to travel around the world putting it back together. Every puzzle utilizes works of art and photography of local culture from each part of the world you travel to, and the music is also according to the local culture. It's not on steam however.

I do know Pandora's box, played it on Nintendo before. Broken sword is a game I've never heard off, I'll show it to her.

Thanks for the links, appreciate it! Lucid is in the "gem" section, not looking for that. Lost marbles can be replaced by corrorimpa(or something) on the WII, Thomas has already been noted, Strata looks cool!, and Girls Like Robots is a "gem" game again ;) But thanks for the list mate!

I think trine 2 would be a good fit for her... it moves at your own pace, very simple in terms of combat and puzzle solving, and is very very forgiving if you oops and die. Plus it has multi player so I think she might get a kick of teaming up and trying various levels with you as well as solo.

I also think vessel would be a very good fit, its a puzzle game with slight plat former aspects. It's very simple to grasp and is another game you can play at your own pace, and both games have the option to save at will, which is huge when it comes to having to stop to do something else real quick.

I would also try the sims for her. It is not really a story based game, but I always told my fiance I love the sims because its like playing dolls but on a computer. Most females I have met tend to get a kick out of the game. I know my mom had her fun recreating our little family and trying to rebuild the house and everything lol. I know it seems silly but it was one of the first games that really got me into the whole computer gaming thing.

... and I know its been suggested and vetoed alot by you already but majority of popcap games tend to be a good transition for most people into computer games, for sure bejeweled, zuma, and bookworm all might be a winning download for your mother.

Oh I would also try scribblenauts... It's real cutesy in design and has ample freedom to both move at your own pace and is very simplistic in terms of progression. It allows you to play on your own creativity without really putting too many limitations on what you can and can't do.

Trine is an option, noted that one! Vessel I is an unique one, but don't think she'll favor it over Trine. A sims game it isn't gonna be, too much content (as in options), and Scribblenauts is playable on Nintendo!

go for the second not the first... there is a noticeably better game play in the second one then the first, and you don't really need the story or anything from the first to understand the second, they do full training in both games at the start.
