Not really ignored but The Witcher is a good choice.

Hmm epic and also not well known game? If you like adventures or puzzle solving games, you should try Botanicula or Machinarium. Awesome design! Bastion is also great. Or Legends of Grimrock which is really oldschool rpg in a new style.

Advent Rising, Anachronox, Painkiller, Indigo Prophecy, and Ghost Master are all great titles.

You also need to instal and play your NecroVisioN games. Dammit, those are some fun shooters. :u
I've only played about five hours of the demo of the first game, but I fucking love it. The load times can be a pain in the ass, but the mix of shooting and magic artifacts more than make up for it. Trust me, they wouldn't be on the top of my Steam wishlist without at least a few damn good reasons.

You can try Pharaoh, bes city builder of all times xDD, you can also try Call of Cthulu dark corners of earth :p and a epic one, "beyond good and evil" :p

The binding of Isaac, you MUST play it, also Beat hazard its epic

Most of the Epic games I can think of are rather old. What about "The Path"? If you want an old game, my all time favourite game in that genre was "Tachyon the Fringe"

Forge is a nice game but players are low at the moment

Maybe Touhou. That's a bullet hell game with epic music. It's really hard, but fun to play.
If you looking for "bigger" games i would suggest you alan wake and boderlands.

Super Monday Night Combat is a fantastically fun game and most people either don't know of it or never tried it. It's also free.

Edit - If you're looking for a single player game, try Costume Quest. It's relatively short, but a very fun play.

If you're up to playing some classics not surely known by current generation then how about playing that Monkey Island adventure games that you already have? This kind of games is not so popular nowadays but is really a ton of fun!
