I set up the profile of your Steam account only for friends. I would like to know whether this decision will not have an adverse effect on potential winning games giveaway. Of course, from time to time I sync profile SG with Steam account. If I had a private profile is how the author would see such a giveaway if I have already given game or if I'm in a group?

It's not against the rules of SG to have a private profile as long as you sync regularly.
People will be unable to check your status manually though and may as a result develop mistrust towards you. Since users have a lot of power on this site (most notably blacklisting), you could get suspected of things you may or may not do since they're not able to verify things with their own eyes.
SG will automatically manage which games you own and which groups you're in every time you sync, but everyone else will just have to assume that the information is correct/up to date.

some people dislike private profiles but it's not against the rules as dan mentioned.

if you win, expect the ga creator to ask you to set your profile to public so he can check it.

Thank you for answers. I have not found this place, is there a process as to SG insert information about the authors giveawy to invite me to friends on Steam if I win the game (and after verification that they removed me if she would like)?

If they have a gift in their Steam inventory, they will either friend you or send it to you by e-mail. If they have it as a key, they can send it to you directly through this site.

I know this only comes to the actual verification, here is how the author giveaway would have to check whether I have the game / belonging to the group.

I guess they can insist on verifying whether you own the game, but if you don't belong to the required group, it won't even let you enter the giveaway.

First of all, why set it private?
Don't you love the feeling of people stalking you?

No, of course I not set a personal profile in order to extort a double copies of games with SG, so there were no such suspicion. I set the privacy for a few individuals not visited my profile, no, it's not about stalking, just those few people do not like. In addition, from time to time I play CS GO, too much I do not want someone "alien" watching my profile.

Looks can be deceiving, of course. One of the most generous people I know on this site has a private profile.
