..One can never be disappointed.
So, I was pretty excited when I heard about Zafehouse: Diaries, as it looked like an interesting take on the currently over-saturated Zombie genre game. I liked how it seemed like the real emphasis would be on the strains and relationships of the survivors. It also seemed like it was going to be quite a free and open gaming experience from the get-go with the added bonus of being able to insert your own characters into the game. I was sold.
I played this game today and was largely underwhelmed. I'd heard a few people complaining about it being RNG heavy. I thought this could actually be a good thing prior to playing, yet I was wrong. The problem is that no matter how careful you are not to make noise, there's always a chance that a horde will just be attracted to your holding and mess up your day. I know it's difficult to deal with realism with such a genre, but I'm pretty sure if all your survivors are having a snooze or on lookout, this shouldn't cause every zed within a 8 mile radius to become attracted to your place as if they were a bunch of steamgifts users attracted by a skyrim giveaway.
Also, there seems to be a real lack of actions/scope within the game. In a way it's incredibly stifling that you aren't able to prioritise fortifying certain areas/rooms over others or even tell your survivors to have a nap, or stop being a lardy and give over cramming all the snacks in your cakehole.
It's not that this game was terrible, it just didn't like up to it's potential, or rather, didn't live up to my expectations. Which is a damn shame as I was fully on-board the zafehouse train. But now I'm on it, it smells a bit like wee and there's no available seating.
Anyone else played it?
