It looks good, but I know almost nothing about The Walking Dead. I never even watched the show or read the comics. Is it still worth playing if I'm not familiar with the story?

It's tied into the comics [rather than the show]. It's good for Telltale fans or fans of the source material, but if you're neither, then there are better options for you.
If your Humble credit doesn't expire, then you may just wanna hold on to it. Humble tends to do sales pretty non-stop, and recognizable JRPGs in the 75%+ discount range are frequent enough.
