I think this new system is based on more than one report, maybe you had an impersonator. I'm sure Steam Support will help you.

Hamfisted things seem to be rather popular with Valve for some reason, I've more than once sent e-mails in telling them to work with SteamRep to improve their system and make use of it, deaf ears I am afraid. And this coming from someone who thinks SteamRep is a small step away from useless.

"Upon going back to the 'review' where he and I argued, I found all his messages deleted (he probably erased evidence, which only confirms it was him)."
Messages are never truly deleted on Steam. Admins and mods and devs (in there game forums) can see the complete history of every single post (including edits) for every thread. Try to find a mod for that area and ask them to investigate.

the system is automaticaly and Steam Support will do absolutly nothing about it... how could they? there are not nearly enough People to control These Kind of Thing - the Problem is that the System not even bother to make some automatically controlls of the reports.. you just get the scammer-warning

Hey Tzell
Can't really help, but here, take this bump! :)
And also, I TRADED WITH TZELL BEFORE, HE IS NOT A SCAMER

Every Troll can Report you with just 2 clicks...
have the same Problem... and had to learn to live with this...
there is nothing you can do about it - but People who do trading know of this and the warning Messages are just ignored... if you still have Problems, tell your tradepartner about it..

Since I started to trade - just Need someone who don't like your Counter or is angry that you didn't accept his tradeoffer...
let 1 of 1000 be such a Troll... I get 200-300 offers per day.. so I guess I am flagged 2-3x/week for nothing... even if ist only 1 of 10.000 it's still 2-3 per month... so... c'est la vie...
you have to accept that the Reporting-System is just ***** - so don't waste any thoughts about it... like I said, everyone who trades (and is sending Counters and not only accept/decline) knows about this

it should vanish after 3 weeks if you don't get flagged again...
but chances are there you will get flagged again if you make trades...
don't even have to be trolls - a lot of Kids don't know hwat they are doing... they think honestly you are a scammer if you decline offers about 5c Cards for 25c Cards... and when they get countert they are suprised and think the worse... so.. don't even have your troll to do it.. just a kid or a ... or... well... everyone can flag you.. hell you don't even have to trade.. everyone who clicks your Profil can Report you for a lot of things...

I can confirm steam support won't do anything about it, i'm being/have been impersonated by at least one guy for over a year now, and thanks to that I've had the same problem simply because most people who get scammed are lazy tards that can't be bothered to even file a support ticket so they ask their friends to mass report you, this is probably what some guy did to you as well.
Steam support will tell you that the flag will automatically be removed (if you don't get flagged again that is) and
that's about it, they won't tell you when it'll be lifted or even investigate the reports (i.e. read the notes)

I think there's 2 reasons for that:

I've posted a negative review which got quite much attention to it. People come and drop a comment sometimes, but I just ignore it.

You can flag someone as scammer, when you have a group of 20-50 people who report all one account in a short time as scammer.
then the system will activate this.

I had kinda same problem, but much worse. I was permabanned from trading at Steam because some guy reported me from multiple accounts because I changed my mind about his offer. Steam support was useless as usual, so don't rely too much on them. I was pissed off and decided to spam Valve's employees with "why i me baneded form setem trad thing?" (sorry if this sounds offensive to you-know-who, let me know and i'll remove it) and later I have accepted my fate. Two days later, I got unbanned.
The moral of the story? I'm French.

I think steam really needs to change the way people can just 'report' other people as scammers with no real way to back up their claim.
Some brat didn't like a negative review I posted on a game he seems to love, got all riled up and angry, said he 'hates' people like me and hinted he'd get back at me for posting said negative review.
Obviously, he was very immature and rude, but I didn't pay much attention to it.
A day later, when I tried to trade with someone, he said steam trade window kindly informed him I'm a scammer.
this is what he saw
At that point I had no idea who reported me, since I try my best to be a fair and friendly trader and ofcourse, never ever scam anyone.
Once I suspected the guy, I wanted to contact him and ask if it was indeed him.
Upon going back to the 'review' where he and I argued, I found all his messages deleted (he probably erased evidence, which only confirms it was him).
I don't remember who the guy was, and there isn't any way to see who flagged my account as a 'trade scammer'.
What is pretty obvious that it was done easily and with no real proof, since well, I didn't scam anyone.
So I contacted steam support but I doubt they'd do anything.
I hate rude internet brats that get butthurt and seek revenge over meaningless BS like game reviews.
And I'm even more angry with steam for allowing a system where said brats can ruin your account reputation just cos they feel like it.
TL;DR - Someone didn't like a negative game review I posted, as revenge flagged my account for trading scam.
Steam now informs everyone that wants to trade with me they should be careful because I was reported as a scammer. screenshot
Steam needs to change this BS system to keep people from exploiting it for petty revenge.
Question - Any way I can dig out who the guy was, since he erased his messaged from the 'game review' page? I can't remember his username.
This kind of stuff ever happend to you?
