probably becouse it was 80% off for 2-3 days a week ago. Last update they added a map and 4 (well 3, one is the same on both sides) new guns, and they improved previus maps a tiny bit.
Sadly lately its just a hardcore COD clone, so i personally stoped playing it. (got 380 hrs into the game lol)

I say go for a few older games with great ratings that are now 70-90% off. Examples includes Transistor, Bastion, etc.

17$? i am pretty suire Grey Goo is around that price right now.. but with 17$ u can probably get just about everything on gray market if u risk it.

Grey Goo is an awful game and you shouldn't be buying it. Besides gorgeous CGI cutscenes that game has nothing

i disagree, in the last 2/3 years it's the only RTS game to come out beside starcraft 2. It has an interesting SP with 3 races that play very differently from each other. I enjoyed it a lot

That only means just how badly RTS games are doing right now. In Grey Goo:

Story in missions and cutscenes often don't match - "we have to rush in now and wipe them out!" -> next mission you spend 2 hour defending a base in a corner. It's not a great story either.

Music... one of the worst Frank Klepacki performances ever. This is the first time I didn't save a single track since he started producing music for games.

Performance - graphics look good, but nothing justifies 10FPS with a 980GTX and an i5 3.2ghz on medium settings when playing as humans, and 30FPS with other races.

Gameplay - half of the units are useless. Anti tank is always a better choice than the alternative. Air units are a one-off card, AA too strong. Due to various interface and mechanics mistakes, micro doesn't really exist, you're stuck with blobs of units and A-moves. UI sucks, Empire at War had a much better interface. Units pathing and movement makes SC1 Dragoons look like SC2 Zerglings. Tech tree idea is neat, but is implemented badly - 95% of the time you're fine picking the upgrade you always pick. Some of them are even nerfs (looking at you, railgun Lancer). You have only the most basic control over units - attack, move, guard, patrol. No behavior patterns, no advanced control, no "drive backwards" option present in all C&C games (on which some of Petroglyph guys worked on!). Models don't have damage zones (example: in C&C3, if you order a "retreat move", unit will drive backwards, taking the enemy attacks on front, where armor is stronger, thus taking less damage) - and some of Grey Goo units just BEG to have that mechanic (Goo's shield monster).

Etc.

Again, while your points are true and i agree with all but the performance since i have an radeon 5570 and i have around 45-55 FPS on the singleplayer missions, that said just because i have an acceptable performance doesn't mean that the game shouldn't run better on higher hardware.
I'm a SP gamer and for me grey goo, while it certainly doesn't have the quality of previous RTSs like C&C and starcraft, is fun and different. I don't feel grey goo as an awful game, it's a mediocre RTS that's fun; in an "era" where RTS genre is dominated by just starcraft which has "little" SP content it was breath of fresh air.
Nowadays we are getting homeworld remaster, act of agression and the new homeworld on the desert; maybe i should be more strict on grey goo but when it launched i felt that maybe just maybe we could keep getting good RTS.

True enough. And the performance was very random - a friend with a 660 ran the game just fine. I'm also a strict singleplayer guy. I don't like the pressure of multiplayer RTS, the only one than a few matches was Starcraft 2 WoL

Would you recommend me some RTS? i was thinking of buying act of war and world in conflict to replay the SP until the new homeworld launches, since you are quite knowledgeable in the strategy world maybe you know one that missed me.

From this year? Well, we've had Homeworld Remastered, also Act of Aggression is fairly good, and Planetary Annihilation: Titans is better than original Planetary Annihilation.

There aren't many choices :( I'm keeping myself happy replaying the old stuff, C&C series, Red Alert, currently playing Nexus: The Jupiter Incident (fuck this game is hard)

Speedrunners, 100% Orange Juice, Awesomenauts
If you have someone to play multiplayer with already then Ibb & Obb, Don't Starve Together, Sanctum 1/2, Battleblock Theater

Single player: Portal 2. It's one of my all-time favourite games. (Multiplayer is also a lot of fun if you have someone to play with who has a mic.)
