The right part of the profile is not entirely opaque. The design remains visible in the background, as it should be.
The left part of the profile, where the showcases are, some of us do things like this, which would not be possible if every background is required to have a blacked out middle portion. I personally don't keep or use backgrounds that shove their designs off to the sides.

Although that is neat trick to make the background visible. I consider it Hack & Heresy on the part of the creator for the background. Anything that is past default is garbage and lazy shit. Mostly just screen shots of game with fading or gradient added.

I have had my fair share of good, decent Steam backgrounds. Some Rare, some Common, some stupid. I just got one that is considered Rare. I assume it is Rare as it is a stupid background, one which does not show the fucking background at all. Anyone else have these to share? If no, then meh. Is so, then also meh.
