Revised build (Build changed based on opinions)

This will be the first PC that I'm building myself from scratch.

I'm quite familiar with electronics, so I have no worries about building this PC.

+1, if you are spending $843.83 you can afford a $50 psu like this

That depends. I remember at least Antec Sonatas having a pretty good stock PSU.

I wouldn't go with water cooling for CPU alone. You can get great air coolers for the same price. I can't really recommend one because I don't know which one currently is the best.

If you can find cheaper RAM with same performance (1600MHz/CL9), switch to that. You can save a bit of money and even the cheapest ones usually have lifetime warranty.

The case is pretty big, will have 3 fans installed and the GPU has dual fans, that should be more than enough to keep it cool.

The CPU water cooler is sealed so I won't have to worry about maintenance, it's quite cheap and I want to be able to keep my CPU very cool.

That's the cheapest RAM that I can find besides the Patriot RAM of the same specs and I've heard many terrible things about Patriot.

What about this RAM

The Corsair RAM is a bit cheaper and just as good as G.Skill.

Yeah, I've only heard good things about Corsair.

Yes, that is a nice CPU cooler, I might actually switch to that if it stays that cheap when I actually make my purchases. (Should be within a month unless I hear of any great sales soon)

Stock PSU is a never ever.

EDIT: on the 2nd build, you need more than 500W... Get at least 600, 620 or 650W.

Really? PCPartpicker has the entire system rated at 349W. o_O

I've updated Build 2 with a different power supply.

I don't think that is a good psu either. Why not Rosewill CAPSTONE-650-M 650W or Thermaltake TR2 TR-700 700W ATX?
Good psu brands are: SeaSonic, Thermaltake, Rosewill, XFX, Corsair (some of them), OCZ and Antic.

Updated again with a Thermaltake PSU.

Super Flower also has good PSUs despite the silly name.

I would recommend putting in a little but more money into the PSU. Cheaper ones can be unreliable and have Coil Whine.

Heres a more reputable psu: click
or clcik

The second link is only 5 dollars more than your current psu. Might as well go with a better company...

Hmm, I think I'll go with the consensus and get a better power supply. (I'm liking that ThermalTake one)

No Problem! Thermaltake is a good company.

Don't go with an apu if you're using a dedicated gpu, get an fx series or something. (just my 5 cents)

Why are you getting a A10-6800k? Why not an FX 8320?
But if you're still getting tha A10-6800k, why a mATX mobo?

Isn't the 212 Evo better than 212+?

As for cases go, I'd suggest something better like a Corsair 200r

And last, if you already have a mouse and a keyboard laying around I'd use those, I'd spend the extra money on a better monitor or MoBo .

Edit: Also change the PSU to a XFX 550w or something. I don't see why you would need a 600w one.

I have to agree with this. I run my i5-3570K, three SSD's (which use almost no power), a Mini-ITX motherboard, a few case fans and a GTX 680 on a 500W PSU. I see little reason to believe the OP's build will need over 500W.

I think he wants a higher psu for future upgradeabilty or sli. It also seems like a 500 watt and a 600 watt psu has very similar prices: +/- 10 dollars...

As others have said, if you're getting a discrete GPU, you shouldn't be getting an APU. The integrated GPU of it will be unused and wasted(as the 7850 is a tier or 2 above what's compatible for hybrid crossfire), and the CPU part of it is pretty weak. If you're sticking with an AMD platform, look into the 8320 as others have said(it's worth the extra dough).

First, for reference, my build from last year: http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/4357971 -- I know it's well outside of your dollar range, but it's still useful to see what others have done.

My question: how will you be installing Windows 7 on this machine without a DVD drive?

I'd highly recommend using an external DVD drive. There's no reason to have a DVD drive in the machine, especially if you'll be hauling this thing around to LAN parties. For under $30 you can get a simple USB 2.0 DVD drive. It might be slow to install but once you're done installing Windows you probably won't ever use it again, so why haul that extra weight around to LAN parties?

My thoughts regarding your build: I don't prefer AMD right now... from a gamer's perspective Intel is where it's at (this might be debatable, but when 25/25 of my friends are all using Intel that's gotta' count for something!) I'd highly recommend investing in a solid CPU/motherboard/case combo, get a great power supply and a simple SSD for your OS install. From there you'll want a spare hard drive to install games/programs on, then finally focus on graphics. When your money starts to run thin graphics should be the first thing sacrificed, as it's the easiest component to replace once you do have more money.
