"Windows 11 is out now. Microsoft's latest operating system is official available to download in something resembling a final release build, and if you fancy taking it for a spin it's a fairly simple process to update to Windows 11 on your gaming PC.

Microsoft dropped its newly-numbered OS close to a day early in some areas of the world, which means you could've spent all night with Windows 11. Lucky you.

New features with Windows 11 include a redesigned Microsoft Store, new look and feel Start Menu and Taskbar, built-in support for Android apps, and its new AutoHDR feature.

That said, we're not quite convinced that Windows 11 is an OS worthy of your gaming PC just yet. It's not that it doesn't look flashy and come with some new features worth talking about, it's just that, despite its official 'release', it still feels an operating system very much in beta.

We also can't believe some of these old Windows menus are still going strong.

Though that said, we've tried the new OS out on some of our own machines in the weeks leading up to launch, and found a few things we like in the new OS, such as its soothing new sounds, the redesigned app window experience, and the new window snap functionality.

Is that worth the price of admission? You can be the judge of that with your own Windows 11 installation from the download page, that is if you don't fancy waiting for Microsoft to update your machine for you sometime next year and your system meets the stringent processor requirements.

The easiest way to install Windows 11 is to follow the steps for Microsoft's Windows 11 Installation Assistant. Failing that, Installation Media should provide a handy alternative for users with a decent USB drive close at hand, though that's proved a little flaky for us so far. An easy ISO download, however, is always the most straightforward option."

[EDIT1] You can rollback and testdrive Windows 11 for 10 days and if you don't like it, totally revert back to Windows 10 while keeping your files and everything.
[EDIT2] On a sidenote, I do wonder if they gonna hit us with the nag update screen like they did with Windows 10.

[EDIT6] Microsoft Shows How To Bypass TPM 2.0 (1.2 needed) Requirement For Windows 11 (Might be at own risk and not being able to get updates in the future).

-Some Windows 11 improvements, why you might want to upgrade (in the future):
-Better security (Hence the need for TPM)
-Integrated Android apps
-DirectStorage Xbox tech that uses fast SSDs to speed up game performance
-Auto HDR Xbox tech that tonemaps games without built-in HDR support for HDR monitors
-A totally revamped Microsoft Store

I can't update because I have a Ryzen 5 1600X. I'm suprised because it's not that old. I'm kinda disappointed because I planned to update.

I'm honestly hoping that with the Steam Deck coming and all that, that ProtonOS becomes a friendly viable option.
Keyword FRIENDLY. I tried to go Pop!OS on my MSI following LTT and fucking hell...
You need to jump through so many hoops still. And I hate. HATE things that make me create accounts to use them (one of the programs). I am really likely to not use something if it asks me to create an account I know it's going to be a headache if I ever want to delete that account.

(You don't want to know the exchange I had... Still am HAVING??? with the sleazy looking company that's running that Vampire The Masquerade Fortnite ripoff just to delete my account... AAA company my arse, they have no work to show but that + claiming to be developing +2 AAA titles, they jump out of nowhere launching a game that some fanboys claim was planned since 2017 which is also the year the company was founded but they're missing half their staff and almost every page you land on on their website is practically screaming "WE'RE HIRING"? For crying out loud! Know a distraction/sub-company when you see one. Twits...)

After installing Pop!OS to the machine I realised that I was going to need to do a LOT of work, specially terminal work, that I am not skilled at to get it running the way I wanted it to so I went back to Win10... It look me 3 bloody days to finally. FINALLY. Figure out how to do that properly. Stressed me the hell out. I am honestly just waiting for Windows to fall off their high horse gaming wise or I s2g I'll just buy a damn PS5, a Switch and stick to my phone from then on out and have a little raspberry pi running a linux distro in case of any computer related emergencies. Getting real tired of all the crap Windows installs without me asking (not that android is any better but at least I can still clean most of that crap out with a bit of work).

Oh, and bonus points to this topic, you reminded me to de-bloat my A52. Samsung and Google just love installing crap on their machines. It's looks so damn CLEAN.

(Fine I give up ibb. HAVE AT IT)

(My BF took that pic. Also sorry for the blackouts but they're region-specific/money-specific apps that I'd rather strangers online didn't see.
