Still. You don't need to buy the new operation to play competitive. You need to rank up to rank 3.
Just play DM, casual, arms race, etc, any mode, you will gain the same exp as those who buy the operation gain.
Only difference is that they can also gain exp by completing missions.
You even get the drop at your first weekly rank-up.
EDIT: And yes, you gain exp by playing on ANY map, not only operation maps. Trust me. I have besides my main account 2 smurfs, I ranked up to level 3 on both of them and I only own the operation on my primary. I played only dust2/mirage/inferno and arms race (none from operation), and now I can play competitive on them.

Don't worry bro. I had to do that too. Even famous streamers. Even professional players.
Its 3 ranks, you can get that in like in less than a week if you play just a little everyday. Even less if you play ~2h per day.
Its one thing that you will do once and it will last for a lifetime. Just play some FACEIT or CEVO while you don't rank up if you want to play competitive so much (they won't give you exp tho because are community servers).
And think about why that was created: To prevent cheaters. They got banned and simply created another account and were already playing the game. Now they will have much more trouble doing that, and it will give Valve a little more time to detect the cheat and ban them.
So its one little sacrifice everyone must to in benefit of the whole community.

to prevent cheaters,since they are dumb,they won't toggle it off in casuals so they will be busted faster than usual,yes since this update the amount of cheaters in casuals has like risen by 20-30 times if not even more,and so they get busted before they even get to play COMP or in their early games in competitive especially with the 2 wins per 24 hours for the 1st 10 wins,it just slows them down to such extent that most cheaters dont get to get a rank and they're banned,so its actually nice :) its not that hard to get to rank 3.

As it's been said, you need to be Rank 3 to play competitive. You can rank up by completing any match in any other mode, and on any map. It doesn't take that long to rank up. Just play a few casuals or whatever until you rank up. Sure, it may be annoying for some, but they have their reasoning for implementing this. It really won't take too long if you do a few complete matches.

Almost ll of my hours into CS:GO are from casual xD It's good practice, for one. You don't have to take it seriously as if it were comp. If people annoy you, there will be no harm in blocking communication with them.
Besides, you don't even have to play cas. You can play any freaking mode to help rank up XD But if they don't wanna work for it, they don't deserve to play then xp

I think I've only met two Russians throughout the entire time I've played (well, Russians who obviously show themselves, i should say), I haven't had any German give me issues, and I only get a babbling kid once every few matches. I've heard SO many people complain about all of this and it's really not even THAT bad xD

Casual is a great fully fledged 'warmup' before a competitive match. It usually helps to squeeze in a quick match on Arms Race or Deathmatch before you do a competitive to make sure your twitch reflexes are ready to go.
I might understand them if they were talking about pure casual matches in a 10vs10 with people who don't know what they're doing, because those are like pulling teeth, but still~

On top of what's been said, I do advise doing some guardian missions (or any of the two player co-op ones) with people that have the operation - if you know anyone that does.
I think it gives about 600xp and some of them are actually kind of fun.

Some of them COULD take longer (if he chooses the ones that are harder first), and maybe he doesn't want to spend $7, but it is a wise choice to do this. It helped me out a lot, I know that's for sure. With the missions, I did the easy ones first and got rank 3 pretty quickly.

I just meant if he knows someone with the operation and they have to do the mission, if he tags along for the 2 player co-operative ones where you defend a site or hostages. He wouldn't have to spend money and it is decent xp. They can take long but generally they're not too hard if you ask me.

It stresses me out too much. my friend finally convinced me to play the other day to get my rank (I have played a few every couple of months because of friends begging), but I just don't like comp. I feel pressured and I get nervous. Sure, half of the time I carry, but I don't like pressure, and I don't do as well when I'm nervous xD I just like having fun with cas.

That's why I think you'll need a full team of people who feel the same and can goof around even if it's competitive - I'm not saying throw the games but have fun doing it and I think it'll be fine. If it really does stress you out and bother you then you don't have to of course, but I do see how that leads to missing out on a number of missions.

No, but having any sort of barrier that people need to get passed to access ranked play ensures that moba players at least have some idea of how the game works. I don't play DOTA 2 and i can't speak for everyone but i used to play LoL and i know i sure as hell would not have wanted to ever be in a ranked game with someone level 1-20, even over 20 you still had people with no basic understanding of game mechanics, after Riot had a brainfart and made it much easier to level.

No, it does not, but it tends to drive away a good amount of people who refuse to learn, it's not the leveling itself, it's the flaming and rage you generate along the way, it tends to make the average person at least try to do better. If you're still ignoring the basic mechanics of the game at level 30 you're either a troll, in which case there's nothing to be done anyway, or you have serious issues and again there's nothing to be done.

I never said it was a perfect system, but you can't deny it does drive some people to either leave the game or get better. If it were up to me i'd put some intricate system in place that takes into account everything from a minimum number of games(and even of wins) to farm and K/D/A.
I honestly never got this mentality that people are entitled to play ranked no matter how bad they are at the game, it only ruins the game for the team they get dumped on.

Im so angry about the new rules on CSGO, i just come back to play after a month and surprise!!!! you can't play cooperative matches if you don't buy the new ticket, that is totally unfair because if i pay the game and includes the cooperatives matches now they can't take off.
