Alright, I'll buy the winner anything for 10 euros or roughly the equivalent from the Steam store. I've been looking for this film for the better part of the last half a year, to no avail, so if anyone could identify it, I'd be grateful. Please keep the suggestions in their own new posts, not as replies, so that I can tell who got it first more easily. If your suggestion is tied with someone else's and yours is in a reply to a reply, while his/hers is in its own post, I'll prefer the person with their own post.

Anyway, I've seen this movie roughly 20 years ago, sometime around 1995-1997 on hungarian TV, so it's probably nothing recent, eh? From my shady memories, I remember that some sort of criminal(?) ends up in a museum of some sorts (not sure if it's one though), holding a large gem (almost sure about that detail). Somehow the gem goes flying, but I don't remember how, and it lands in a sort of a stuffed wild animal's mouth (could be a wolf, polar bear or something like that; I remember it being white but I might be wrong), making a very unique sound. Now, some kid(?) somehow hears that sound, and that's how he identifies where the gem is near the end; I think he drops something into the mouth as well and recognizes the sound. Other than that, I had the memory that this was a Walt Disney film (live action), but after looking through their catalogue, I could only find one movie that doesn't look like it could be the one I'm looking for. That movie is "One Of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing", something that I'm sure I've seen around that same time, and parts of it sound very familiar, but I don't think it's that one. It's definitely a family friendly adventure type of film, and it's probably from the 90s or 80s.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated. I'll hold up my end of the deal. Meanwhile, here's something as a token of my gratitude for at least trying to help.

EDIT - It's solved, the correct answer was given by Xitau, and the movie is The Shaggy Dog (1994 remake). Apparently the polar bear was a crocodile... Anyway, thanks to everyone for the attempted help!

Oh, I know that problem... those super vaguely remembered movies from ages ago... I recently had a similar problem, but luckily I remembered enough to get at least some sensible google results :)

Yeah, I had a bunch a while back, but I found them all except for this one and a possibly very obscure TV series from around the same time. Can't remember too much about that though.

It sounds like it might be something from The Magical/Wonderful World of Walt Disney, an anthology series of mostly made for TV movies that was popular in the 80s and 90s. Unfortunately most of the episodes aren't well documented, and I'm not sure if any of them are available on home video.

Hope that helps.

This certainly narrows it down. There's only a few that hungarian TVs aired from that, I'm looking through those now. Thanks!

Unfortunately it's not. I'm honestly not sure if it's a jewel that lands in the stuffed animal's mouth any more though :(

Sounds like it could be one of the Pink Panther films, probably https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Return_of_the_Pink_Panther if any but the wiki for the whole lot is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pink_Panther if it helps :)

Hmmm... will keep on thinking. Take a look at Romancing the Stone as well though - Kurt Russel and (iirc) Kim Cattrell (sp?), involves crocodiles...

(I know what it's like when you can't qute remember it... tip of the tongue always is annoying ;) )

[Edit] Actually it's Michael Douglas - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088011/?ref_=tt_rec_tti ) Will add to a new post if you want me to :D) [/edit]

I gonna go on a limb here with my first guess, but a family-friendly adventure that aired around that time was The Neverending Story, but it's probably not what you're looking for.

I remember this one to be funny, but otherwise it's not the one I'm looking for. I actually narrowed the time down to 1995 to january of 1996. Probably a movie through Disney's made for TV catalogue, but that time is undocumented in the wiki, and in the hungarian listings too. This thing WANTS to evade me I guess.

It kind of sounds like "Don't Say a Word" but that was released in 2001, so I'm guessing that is way too recent.
Maybe one of the older Mummy movies there are quite a few of those.

Sounds kinda like this film? http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0969250/ but not as old as what you suggest.

These two came up in keyword searches but don't seem overly like it. Both are relatively old and Disney/family related though! :p

I watched that movie too in open brazilian television on the 90s. Can't really remember the name but I believe The Shaggy Dog's is a solid option as someone said before.

I believe the robber was fighting the kid in dog form when the jewel goes flying. The kid can remember the sound because of his dog hearing at the time the jewel goes inside the stuffed bear near the wall of the museum.

At some point someone is distracted and body slams the bear (I believe it's a police officer) and the boy remembers the sound during the fight
and finds the jewel.

If it's not The Shaggy Dog's, drop me a msg and I will try to remember more details about it.

Hmm, now I'm not sure which version I've seen really. The remake has a crocodile, but the original might have a bear as you said. Although the original is black and white and I clearly remember this film being in color. I'll check out the original too just in case. If you're right, then you win too.

Okay, I tried to look for the bear scene in the original, but alas, there's no such thing. The thing someone wants to steal in that one is also some documents, and not a diamond. Are you sure it's not the 1994 version you're talking about? If there's a version or another remake out there with those details, then I'll give you the prize too, but otherwise Xitau already found it, so if it's the same then better luck next time...

There are 3 versions I know of:

1959
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053271/

1994
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111146/

2006
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0393735/

I am pretty sure only the 1959 one is black and white and I haven't seen it. I would go after the 1994 one.
