At least for me, if I loaded from a bookmark or typed like this: "www.steamgifts.com", the site
was redirected to "www.www.steamgifts.com", so that's why I couldn't load the site.
But now that I manually typed only "steamgifts.com", the problem was fixed, including loading
from my bookmark... (O_O)
(i.e. this is not only my problem)

PS : The quote is taken from another site (GOG) - this is the only mention of the problem that I could find.

Usually I type "gifts" in the address bar, and my browser substitutes "https://www.steamgifts.com/" from the log, so I did not encounter this problem in the address bar.
But the links on the site - I click constantly.

And "i will probably never run into this problem :P" unfortunately, it is not the same as "there is no problem" :\

Sounds like a browser setting to automatically preface .com sites with www.
At least I remember Opera having something like that aeons ago

I've didn't change browser and system settings.
Here over 1 year, but problem appears about 1 week ago, as IvankoTheFirstUA said.
And was with other browsers / on other PC too. (Coulnd't say about all browsers)

Now I would like to first make sure that the problem has disappeared on other browsers too. And other users.
Therefore, I can not write "Fixed" yet :\

It's been fixed for a few days. There was a brief issue last week as you noticed, and in certain situations, it caused a www.www. redirect.
