What do I get from "giving away" a game?

Hi!
I'm new to Steamgifts and I was wondering what do i get from giving away some videogames I have on my Steam Inventory? And another Question, I can see the tab "Account" with some numbers next to it with the letter "P", I suppose those are points you spend on "bidding" a giveaway, but how can I get more of those points?

1) Giving away games makes you eligible to participate in certain Contributor Value giveaways, where you need to donate a certain amount of games in terms of their value.
2)You earn points each time a giveaway is created on this site.
