Sorry, my bad, I was a bit sleepy and thought about it more like a prequel than demo. but yes, it's just a demo :/

It's my first reaction too, but maybe he/she copied this link directly on a VG site who had affiliation with GOG and add the code in his news. Regarded as the affiliation principle works (a user went by this link and buy during a timeline -> a little percentage go to the owner's affiliation code), it would be stupid not doing it for a free game.

Yeah that's why I thought at first, maybe that's a special code to get the game for free or something

I seem to remember someone saying the recent 7 free Gog demos will expire some time in June.
Not sure if that includes something like this which is called a Prologue.
edit:
Proper links here:
https://www.gog.com/news/discover_upcoming_games_with_these_7_free_demos_on_gogcom
"Have fun and remember to download them before 15th of June, 1 PM UTC. All the demos mentioned above will cease to be available once the Summer Sale on GOG.COM ends."

Whether that means totally "cease to be available" ,ie: from library too ,not sure ,might do.
Might wanna check Steam too ,as the newest System Shock Remake demo is on there as well
