Depends on what you want to back up. Windows registry and Documents/config files shouldn't take up more than a few gigs, so even a 1 TB external drive could hold dozens of separate backups. If you would want to throw programs on top… well, that can boost size pretty quick.

after having to reistall windows recently ive decided to start using a backup. how do i decide what size of external drive to use for this.
