I guess they decided that it was too expensive to give keys away and sent everyone a Google drive download link instead.

What's everyone's thoughts on this?

Hey everybody,
it´s not that we do´t want to send out keys, we are just sold out and wanted to keep our promise to still be able to give you the promised games! If it´s a total no go for you please write me directly: flonja@rokaplay.com
cheers,
Flo

Hey,

we are just sold out right now and this was the best solution to still give you the promised game.
I´ll get tomorrow some last once and I´ll send you your key 💚!

Cheers,
Flo

Roka are very nice people.

I assume, they don't calculated all the multiaccounters in their calculations.

^This I got my key without problems. Like you said they bit off more than they could chew probably. Still promising a Steam key and handing out a download link isn't right

This reminds me, does anyone remember that Pizzarian game?

A long long time ago, a certain dev said if you vote for his game on Greenlight and you have a copy of it on Desura (from a free promo he ran), you'll get a free Steam key once it releases. Well, the game passed Greenlight and then he backtracked on his promise. I remember him saying stuff like:

I'm sad to say that, because I've been constantly receiving this question from Steam key resellers who picked up the game for free, I'm no longer planning on giving Steam keys to Desura owners. I'm not trying to be tricky, I'm honestly confused and I'm just seeing a lot of people who have active accounts on sites like SteamGifts asking this question

Anyway, he backtracked on that decision and apologized for calling SG a site for steam key resellers. Some time has passed and I decided to check the game hub for updates. All of the Steam, hub discussions have been nuked, and his relevant Tumblr posts and as well all know - Desura is no more.

Ever since then, I've been super suspicious about any dev(s) offering a game for filling out a survey and such.

I am in general very suspicious about surveys too but in this case can i say that my team worked with them and i were Beta Tester (too) for Roka, i know them well.
They are friendly and i never seen that they broke a promise in the past with me, my team or someone else.

That they are now "sold out" is for sure a very unexpected thing and i know enough black sheeps that grabbed much more as 1 Game, so it isn't a question for me why they have that now.

They are too friendly and expect the best from people but i think they will learn a few, needed, lessons with which people get, often/mostly, attracted from promotions/advertising.
A bit sad to see.

I wish they didn't add cards to their games, for their and genuinely interested people's sake. They probably got swarmed by card farmers. Still not a nice thing, but hope they learned

They have done at least two rounds before and provided keys. However, they probably should have added the explanation directly to the mail to avoid questions and anger among participants.
