Yeah, I don't know what kind of scam they're trying to run but it's not cool. Got the key and it says it's been used too many times. I sent their support an email and we'll see if they'll do anything about it.

Download the program through there and when you install it you can click on request free activation key which will take you to the same site as the other link but you'll actually get a different key that works. Worked perfectly fine for me.

This is the link to the site I got when I used the installer from https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/nbbJbMi that gave me a valid license (it's slightly different from link in OP) in case anyone still needs/wants it.
It seems to still give the same code no matter how many emails I used but it did work.
So if you don't want to give them your email, just download the installer from here and enter the key manually.

I have noticed these people sell this stuff but always give it away as well on a lot of sites. What is up with the Ashampoo company?

They generally give away previous versions or slightly watered down copies so people can try them out and then (hopefully) pay money for the newest version with all the bells and whistles.
I have a lot of software I've accumulated over the years from them, and most of it is quite decent. Some I've paid for the upgrade, and some I didn't really need so the "free" version is fine. They do like to send out a lot of email, but you can turn that off in their account settings. The nice thing about them is they store all your keys on file, so you can always redownload and install from there if necessary.
