Modern one? Hmm, the only thing i can think of right now, is "Jingle All the Way" but it's almost 20 years old. Also, you can check this one. It's really well done.

Elf, regardless of whether or not you've already seen it. Will Ferrell is a king.

I can't decide if Nightmare Before Christmas is a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie, but it's a really good movie either way :D

Don't they just kinda play the hell out of it at Halloween and Christmas on TV?

I guess it really depends on the country. Where I live they show it on TV almost every year during Halloween time, but only rarely during Christmas time. And it's mostly just once a year from one or two different channels. Though I don't watch TV much, so I might have missed it being shown more often here :/

O.o
Tell her its the "Notebook" or something. She'll sit down, settle in while you lock the doors and bar the exits. Then hit "Play".
If that doesn't work, and she tries to leave or resist, two words: Cattle Prod.

She knows me better than that. I liked the Notebook - she made me watch it. But she also knows I would not be the one to pop that into the player.

So in September A Christmas Story 2 was released. It's supposed to take place a few years after the first one. It looks like it's still got mostly the same style of humor as the first. Only got a 42% from the audience on rotten tomatoes, but I still wanna give it a watch anyway. I plan to watch both with my fiancee this season as she's never even seen the first. =(

Oooo, Home Alone is actually pretty great. Quite underated. People think its just slapstick silly kids movie, but it's pretty sweet and touching.

Home Alone 1 and 2 are awesome. I especially love the music in those movies, and they make a really good job bringing out that heartwarming Christmas atmosphere.

IT's an old one, but it is ultimately the best movie for christmas. The most heartwarming film I've ever seen. Starring the legendary James Stewart: It's a wonderful life.
