Best Total War game?

mine is empire total war its fun and has many countries to played with

I like Empire and Shogun 2: FOTS

Shogun 2 and Rome Total War

Medieval II, followed closely by Rome and then Medieval. Can't stand any Total War game after (including) Empire when they changed (and IMO fucked up) city management on the campaign map.

Also, I'm playing MII as I'm writing this ;)

Rome, Medieval and Medieval 2. Shogun 2 is my favourite of the newer ones.

really loved shotgun 1, the one i most replayed, butt is aging now

rome is good too, you should really play whatever era you like most, i has a blast with most, maybe except empire, there was something about it that didn't click, butt napoleon while smaller cured that wounds

For me it would be Rome, mainly because I'm an ancient history buff, greco-roman history in particular, so RTW fits my interest like a glove. But a lot of people like Medieval 2 more, or Shogun 2. Empire is generally regarded as the weakest game in the series.
