I never paid much attention to the stats but today I noticed a weird thing. I distinctly remember seeing the WL count at X, because I thought to myself: "wow, almost X+1!", so I'm 100% sure I remember it accurate. But today the WL count is at X-1, while the chart is unchanged! That is to say, the chart shows I've been last added to a WL a week ago, and overall at any given point in time the chart only goes up, the line never drops. It seems as if removing me from a WL results in removing that stat from the chart altogether, i.e. removing it from the point of time I was added, rather than (intuitively) adding a chart drop at the point when I was removed.

All of the above applies to the BL chart as well.

Obligatory GA.

Did your WL/BL chart ever go down

It didn't go up yet

It always worked like that, I would like it if it worked by showing the drops like you said but it never did that.

Yeah, I didn't mean it broke overnight, just that it's broken by design. ;-)

the graph is probably dynamic and it adjusts each time you open your profile (or something like that).
you will never see it going down. ┐(ツ)┌

That's very likely, but also not very useful. ;-)

Interesting and nice observation. I agree it is less informative by not also showing the drops and it could be more useful. It is called the 'stats' page after all.

I wonder if the contributor level graph behaves in a similar fashion. i.e. doesn't show drops in level when game CV changes, just readjusts graph

From programming point of view, I'd think so. The site doesn't store past prices of a game, so there is no way to graph the contribution level before the price change. The only way to do so is to save the points on the graph, but that would take up space as opposed to generating the graph from your giveaways.

Yeah, that makes sense. It would add up to a lot of extra data points to store for a more accurate representation of the data. Much cheaper to go for best effort.

It 100% does. Directly after the winter sale I got from ~5.85 to 6.02 for a couple days/ a week without the graph indicating a change. (I guess a publisher increased their games baseprices to indicate a "bigger" discount) And after a couple days/ a week it went back to 5.85.

Technically, I think it would be possible to keep 'deleted whitelist/blacklist entries' as part of the database, in a similar way to keeping whitelist/blacklist, to tell when a user has removed someone from a list. They won't interfere with queries (to find out if you're whilelisted/blacklisted) but would change the list update code.

This will not be perfectly accurate, either (for users who add and remove the same people more than once), but it will be more accurate than what we have today.

Still, I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. Stats aren't that important.
