I've just been a victim of Dead Island scam. So everyone please take note.
I started a thread asking if there were anyone buying Dead Island here.

DeadIslandGame PMed me saying he can send a copy over once I paid the money to his paypal account GamingSteam@hot.ee

Now, once I paid him he said he will send it as soon as he got home at night. Couple of hours later and still no response. Then he claimed he did not buy the game yet and is waiting for one more buyer. He did not say that earlier.

Fine, I wait. The next day I asked him again, he said the next day he will buy the game and send it out irregardless of whether he got the last buyer or not.

Of course no game came. And now that I am jarateed, he shifted responsibility by saying this is not his paypal account and he won't be responsible for it because the THIRD PARTY(WOW! There is now another guy!) do not have enough money in his paypal. He told me to bear the loss because it is not his fault.

Just be careful of this guy. I can afford to lose the money. But I am very unhappy with the way things turned out.

noob, thats the same way when someone tells you "get all steam games free" only mail to steampowered@GMAIL.COM with your password to your steam, and your account should HAVE 1 GAME. buahahaha. Next time you will think what you are doing.

Noob? Don't think so. I've bought Steam games this way tons of time. It's always hassle free.
It's just one rotten egg attempting to spoil the whole basket. I won't let this one bad incident put me off or make me label the entire human race as bad.

I honestly don't reccomend going into a four-in-one pack with some stranger from a forum post.
Split it with a friend or someone you known online for quite some time who wouldn't rip you off.
Another option is to ask here. Usually people who have given away games on this site are pretty trustworthy.

Ok, so is anyone here buying a 4 pack? I'm still looking.

Start a forum post. I'm sure some people want the game.

I may be interested in going in on a 4-pack. Let me know if you get other people interested.

Note that the price he got for the game ($22.50) is due to the person hosting the 4-pack being able to buy it from the Russian version of the Steam store, since it is way cheaper over there.

I'd want a part of the 4 pack but I can't really give anything except for a Resistance 3 Closed Beta PS3 code :P.

It sucks when this happens, but there's really nothing you can do except what you did, which is let us know who to avoid trusting in the future.

A site I've gone to collaborate on 4-packs before is Cheap Ass Gamer. They have a dedicated Steam Group Buys forum thread that I've used on occasion during Steam sale events.

They also have a basic feedback/reputation/score system for game trades that is often used by their site visitors to let others know how their group buy-in experience was with both the person hosting the pack and the buyers (you should always check their feedback and weigh the risks). Obviously, it's a bigger risk to buy from someone with a low/zero reputation, but some of the higher reputation users host multiple pack buys - when people inquire - to raise their feedback score, and you might find an opportunity there.

However, it takes a few days after registration before you're allowed to post or send private messages...perhaps to weed out bots, spammers, and impatient people.

I somewhat agree but not entirely. Should have been suspicious of that kind of crap from the beginning :/

Open a dispute in Paypal. You may be able to get it worked out, get your money back, get the other guy in trouble, etc.

This. Not getting what you paid for is a legitimate reason to open a dispute.

chaossquall, you don't know anything and yet your are shooting your trap off like you know.
There are different payment modes which include donation, services, goods, etc etc.

Yea doing a paypal dispute will work out for you. It's not allowed to distribute digital products by paypal. Even though of this rule me as seller won a dispute vs a scammer once. So I believe paypal will do the thing thats right. Just show enough proof.

Anyway, I got another copy from another guy for only $22.50.
To those gloating, happy paying $50 for a copy.

Nice, glad to hear it. I may try to find some people around here who would be interested in doing a 4-pack. I've never split one with anyone before, so don't know exactly how it works though.

I've split game packs many times already, sometimes I buy and sometimes someone else buys. It's not as bad as it looks. And don't let one bad incident put you off or make you say "EVERYONE ON THE INTERNET IS A SCAMMER".
