How odd, the steam key it gave me for Typing Instructor for Kids Platinum 5 was http://steamcommunity.com/app/461540/ aka "Typing Instructor for Kids Platinum 5 - Mac for Beta Testing"

Edit: Key was added for PC version. =)

This is unexpectedly awesome -- I had actually been contemplating getting Typing Instructor for Kids Platinum 5 for my kids to give them a head start on touch-typing and beginning learning basic programming logic and was just about ready to pull the trigger on the full $19.99 price.

Software bundles have some of the most amazing value in them, and are a great way to explore tools that can increase your practical skillset. It's such a modest amount of money for something that can bring huge amounts of ROI in training and productivity, as opposed to just conspicuous consumption. Does anyone know if there are other software bundle sites out there? I mean, something like Humble Bundle in spirit but geared towards professional or educational tools? I'm still over the moon about that Gamemaker Studio bundle all those months back -- it's truly an amazing tool for rapid development and the bundle price was just insane for the value one could get from it if willing to put in a little work to self-study and use it to its potential.

Hi thekuribo,

I am glad to know you have liked my software bundle. I always try to get some cool content for them, with a good price, of course.
I don't know about any other websites doing this. As a matter of fact, some developers I contacted didn't even know what a bundle was... that means they never got any contact from a bundling platform

Don't worry. You can get a miller software bundle every month :P

Best,
Miller

Thanks for the info! Glad to hear that there will be ongoing Groupees software bundles at least, I love these things and appreciate the effort you put into your curation very much. :)

The two programs not on steam are the really awesome stuff in here. But as I am using steam for more and more things, I wish they were steam, too ;-)

Would anyone buy if I curated a $5.00 (preorder), $10.00 (live) bundle with some really cool software?

thinking about an anti-virus or something like that. A high price would also attract big software companies.. Its just like we do with these Manga Gamer bundles. They cost more, and they feature high quality products.

I wouldn't buy an antivirus because I haven't used one in years, but I would buy software bundle dedicated to indie developers. Mindtex was pretty awesome. I am waiting for some texturing and paiting software for example.

PS: The royalty-free music bundles are awesome.

I'm also not personally interested in anti-virus software, as I'm pretty set with my own solution and am pretty wary of such packages which can sometimes be resource hogs or even end up turning into bloatware-kinda things as they evolve.

However, I'm definitely on board with higher priced, high quality software bundles.

I think I might buy such a bundle, but anti-virus would certainly not be something I would like in such a bundle - I've been sticking with the same anti-virus for ages and I would hardly change it.
I would like such bundles to have kind of a theme or topic - like one for artists and hobby artist, one for people who would like traveling and are interested in languages and the like. I don't remember which platform it was, but the GameGuru bundle was a great thing, I would really love to see something like that.

I will buy (Maybe 2) it if you give more hints on how many software and how many are for steam. Also, how useful they will be. Please let it be better than the first 2.

I actually liked the first one. Had stuff I paid money for (full price on mindtex2) and stuff I almost bought, such as AutoTileGen.

Make me believe in Groupees again. Plus, I missed the first one and started with the second one. AutoTileGen is in my wishlist and still trying to get it for cheap.

I would buy if all Steam or a promise of future Steam. If it is a bundle where you pick random software, from around the web, for us to use, then no thank you. I prefer to pick my own. If you did a mix of Steam and no chance of ever getting on Steam, that might be even worse, as we would then have to try and find an excuse to buy something that unbalanced, which would be a huge pain. Bundles, these days, are really only good if you aim them towards specific groups. Like you can do an all Steam bundle or an all non-Steam bundle, but mixing and matching would be the worst choice.

There is still a lot of software that I don't own, on Steam, that I would get a bundle for. Even a really expensive one, say $10-$15 preorder. Off my wishlist, for stuff I could picture being in one, someday, I see Geekbench 3, Catzilla 4k, MorphVox Pro, Driver Fusion Premium, Family Tree Heritage Platinum 9, FaceRig, Black Ink, Shoot 'Em Up Kit, and Typing Instructor Platinum 21, along with some of the newer releases, like MyDream. If it requires a higher preorder, so be it. Gotta pay for quality.

I also wouldn't mind seeing an all Professor Teaches bundle. If you could do complete, I would probably pay $10-$20 for it.

I think there are a lot of other bundle types you could do. Say the F2P DLC bundle. Only Steam DLCs, never before bundled. The all game soundtrack bundle, with Steam keys for everything. More themed bundles, would be cool, too. All sports bundle, for example. As long as you avoid repeats, all would be good. I would also pay a really high price for a guaranteed quality bundle, with high enough base prices. Say an all $15 or higher base price, never before bundled or 75% off, bundle. I would drop Humble Monthly money, or higher on that.

I, of course, only speak for myself. I have no idea how many people would drop good money on a bundle.

Typing Instructor Platinum 21 is in Software 3... the kids edition. I'll see if I can get the normal one for #4

You said you'd like to pay a higher price for a guaranteed quality bundle.. Just for comparison, what did you think about: Miller on the Roof, BeMine 24 and Go Away, Miller Over There?

Yeah, I got the Software 3 bundle. I need to complete the Typing Instructor collection. I appreciate you looking into it for the next one.

For the other three:

  • Miller on the Roof - I got AstroKill and the OST for Adventure Lib. I always appreciate a good DLC, as I wait for 75% off on them and that is usually a while. A new item was nice, too. I considered the bundle good enough because of those. The rest I had because they had been cheap or in the case of Starship Traveler, bundled before. They would be fine, all around, for anyone with far less games than myself. I say good bundle.

  • Be Mine 24 - It looks like I got Shallow Space. I didn't like 3 bundled before games in there or the free one, but I thought it was solid enough.

  • Go Away Miller - I got Ninja Outbreak and StarFringe (Which I had tons of copies of coming and didn't have them yet, due to the sneaky developer). So I basically got just Ninja. Looks like a future game, too. The others were bundled or really cheap games.

I tend to grab up games that are under $5, so I am the wrong person to ask about that specifically. Still, I didn't think any of those bundles were bad, at all. If I can come away with 2 or more items, for a reasonable price, I am not unhappy. It can be difficult to move the rest, but not end of the world.

I didn't mention this before, but I bet you could do 10 VR bundles, with all that junk that is out and not even have to repeat once. I would buy all 10. Could be a good market to hit, for people with VR and collectors. So many cheap games that have come out and aren't due for a sale for a long time and probably aren't selling very well.

my $.02:

I'd definitely be interested in a "quality" software bundle like this, but maybe as someone suggested it should be thematic? So people primarily interested in productivity software won't be disappointed in getting game-making software and vice-versa (or other topical themes like education/training, skillbuilding, lifehacking, video editing, artwork/asset creation etc)

Oh, also personally speaking, I don't care about Steam or not (actually prefer DRM-Free in a lot of cases) -- to me the quality and usefulness of the software is much more important.

I would be interested even if you did a 15$ preorder, it all just depends on what is included =)

I'd be interested, but would want more details on what type of software. It's always interesting to see all the programs, especially design and illustration ones, as well as what other software steam has to offer, such as windows optimizer ones or sound effects.

I was looking at Aseprite - http://store.steampowered.com/app/431730/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_1 - It's an animation and modeling Software. I personally like the ones that allow you create animations (such as RPG Maker) and experiment with stuff. Cute + Pixely is a plus :)
