EDIT: Bought DLC 1. Will probably buy 2 and 3 as well eventually. \o/

So, I've been trying to go for a 100% on Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1. Some of you completionists may recall an achievement titled "Millionaire" and which involves getting a total of 100 million credits. I am aware that there is a way to "cheat" it by purchasing and reselling expensive items repeatedly, but it still requires you to hoard a shitload of credits... something I can't figure out how to do.

So I checked the store page and found out I can buy some DLCs for $1 each, and three of them increase the level cap of your main characters by 300 (if I understood correctly). It also adds dungeons/battles and stuff, I think. What I'm wondering is, are the DLCs required to make the credits grinding easier? 100 million is a crazy amount at end game without any DLCs. The best I could do was kill Clione at the Millennium Labyrinth repeatedly, but it gives a mere 165k credits without the credit booster chips, and 322k credits with them in use.

I just can't figure out how to do this, so my first assumption is that I need the DLCs to break the level cap, get tougher enemies, and therefore larger sums of credits to farm.

In other words, what is the best way to farm credits in HDN R;B1? Are the DLCs required in order to make this humanly possible? Should I get all three +300 levels DLCs, or just one will be sufficient? I could also buy the DLC pack on Humble Bundle which contains all of the DLCs, for $6. But I'm cheap, poor and it would seem like a waste to spend money on a game I'm almost done with. I don't even care for the additional characters either. Kind of. Okay fine, I do. A bit.

I'm about to give up, which would suck after 85 hours of grinding. Hopefully someone can help me make a decision. :(
Then again maybe that was a silly idea and I should move on to Re;Birth2. :P

TL;DR: Trying to get the 100 credits achievement in HDN R;B1. Should I buy DLCs.

Why not? I forgot how I got my DLC, since it was a long time ago, but I got all of them lol

Yeah it will make the grind easier as it also unlocks new coliseum battles

Would you happen to remember what coliseum battle earned you the most/easiest credits, and which level it required/how much credits it yielded? I'd like to make a quick calculation of how much time I'd have to spend on this. :P

I dont really remember , but there is a save and load exploit that can make you instantly win any coliseum battle :P

Oh, right. Your comment seemed to indicate that you were disappointed about owning the DRM-free version since HB is selling Steam versions. :P

Wait, why. :(

You sound angry, did I accidentally sound rude or something? If so, I apologize as it was definitely not my intention, in fact my last reply was supposed to be apologetic for misunderstanding you. :(

Some of the last coliseum battles (lvl600+ iirc) rewards you with 1 million+ credits so you'll need all 3 additional content DLC (or only 2/3? not sure if you can do that). The characters DLC are nice when you're starting but unless you like one specifically they're easily replaceable at higher levels.
I bought all DLC before starting but I don't feel like they brought something important to the game except the easier achievements (and easier game with the items and OP weapons and strong starting characters)

Thank you, very helpful reply. Having an estimate of what I'm getting into is nice. I think I'll grab the first DLC, grind, then get the second DLC, grind, etc. If I need more, I'll buy more. :P

Thanks a lot for the info!

Hum, I bought all the DLC's before I started the game, so I don't know exactly what's in each of the dlcs.

Anyway, since I just did that achievement a couple of days ago, I just post how I would do it, if I had to do it again:

  1. Get this free DLC, build the colosseum and get the best weapon for Nep through a quest that pops up. You'll need decent (~50) electric resistance on your groupleader to do it, but you can purchase a good ring for that.
1-b. Also buy one "level cap"-DLC. Not sure if you really need another one.
  2. Unlock all the relevant Clione Dungeons (Millenium Labryinth -> Yukawa Ruins -> Zeca Ruins No.2). You'll receive the ML plan from the world map and should find new dungeon-plans in each subsequent dungeon that you unlock. You'll need to do this in chapter 5 since you can't get the additional enemy plans after that and you'll need those in order to spawn Clione.
  3. Get the "credits up"-plan from MS Mountain: Second Area (hidden treasure) and "exp up" from the Lowee Snowfield (hidden treasure) and build them.
  4. Equip a "more credits"-disc on each of your three main combatants. At the end of a fight one of those 3 will randomly apply its "more-credits" bonus.
  5. Farm clione in Millenium; then Yukawa; then Zeca, so you get exp and credits. Note that stronger Cliones just give more exp, but not more credits. Well, this probably takes a while, now.
  6. Take a look at the arena fights in the colosseum. There should be some missions against mobs with a suggested-level around 400-500. So Just try if you can beat them once you get close to that level range. These give finally more credits than Clione-farming. I think for the last 20m credits I just did the "Super Iron Knights" mission.
  7. When you have more than 50m, just make a save and buy, sell, re-buy stuff until the achievement pops. The achievement doesn't say that you have to own 100m at the same time - just earn it. It's not your fault that you are bad at trading!

You can alternate this a bit by targeting towards these colosseum fights and thus focussing more on getting experience.
While Clione is still a very good exp-source, you can find an even better enemy (Legacy MK-2) in the Yukawa ruins who yields ~150% of Cliones exp. So you could alternate between fighting Clione and MK until you reach the needed level for those colosseum fights. To spawn this enemy, however, you'll need the related "Add Super Enemies"-plan, which you get from the mentioned level-cap-dlc.
I think in order to build it you'll just need an item that is coincidentally dropped by Yukawas Clione, though it could also be possible that you can't build it without items from the other DLC-dungeons! (Not sure right now ;D)

It helps if you have the true-ending armor and an item for every combatant that removes the "damage cap" of your attacks. Also having the (second-)best weapons for your other combatants would be helpful. You can get those through colosseum-fights, that can be done between level 100-150.
If you need it at any point, you could also get the "Treasure Hunter"-plan from the Gravidaze Ruins, which increases the item droprate.

So, basically when you are at the point when you are able beat other enemies than Clione, you'll have nearly reached your goal - though having one of the level-cap DLCs speeds things up in any case, since fighting clione becomes easier, too.
However, with the fairy-fencer sword and removed "damage cap", Nep can one-shot the "Millenium"-Clione. So jeah, it's not that much faster with paid DLC's, but more interesting :P

Whoa! Lots of useful information there, thank you so much! So far I have most of the best level ~100+ equipment plus the Fairy Fencer sword, level cap breaker plan, and some decent armor, and I already unlocked all the dungeons. I'll use the rest of this info to help me grind. Thanks again! :D

Well, I kind of thought you had/knew most of it already, but since I had to search for all these little bits, when I played the game, I thought I could just put it together in one place. :>

Hope you'll get the achievement! and that it is fun ;D

Most of it I didn't know/forgot about, for example I didn't have the credits and items boosters. It's also nice to know about all that dungeon/coliseum stuff, so yep, your post is definitely a big help to me. :D

IIRC I pretty much farm that free Fairy Fencer DLC Colosseum battle for both levels and money. Enemy uses lightning, you can get 100% lightning resist easy.

EDIT: But yes, get those DLCs, especially if it's on sale. It adds a lot of end-game stuff that's hella fun. But I still did farm my stuff via the free DLC, lol.

Oh, yeah. Nah, like Eggshen said, it just probably makes it easier to earn them. I too hate achievements which require the DLCs to earn. It's dumb as fuck.

None of the achievements require DLC, they just potentially make certain achievements easier due to the additional content available.

I did it without the DLC, but it did take a really long time. I read somewhere that the time it takes for you to grind to the new max level with the DLC + farming the money monster @ level 300 takes relatively the same amount of time as only farming the money monster @ level 99.

But yeah, I just changed the window resolution to be really tiny and killed the same monster over and over again for like 20 hours...
Having a TV show or a movie to watch on the side really helps.

I saw there's a guide for hardest achievements, did you check it?

Yeah, most of the guides mention the DLCs which I didn't own though, so it wasn't very helpful at the time. Also, every guide is contradicting the other guides, so I guess there's just lots of different tactics for that. :P

Hello, two year old thread time to wake up. I see you got all the achievements of this game. And i am in same boat. Care to share your experience on what dlc are worth buying for this achievement. I haven't started the game yet.

Additional Content 1 and 2 for the level cap increase (300 increase each). While not necessary, it did greatly speed up the process since I could kill the clione repeatedly to farm its huge credits drop (with credits boosting gear equipped).
