There aren't that many action games with stealth elements, though the genre has seen some more activity in recent years. Have you played the series and especially its newest (now bit old) title Hitman: Absolution? If not, why haven't you taken the contract?

Yeah I played Hitman Absolution, It was a nice game but the game felt.. kind of short.
If you're planning to play this game, Play it on Hard, not on Normal.

Is it too easy on normal?

For me? It totally was.
I went through every level easily. Maybe you enjoy playing like that,
I prefer to have a challenge, Hard wasn't impossible or anything. but I actually had to think.

In some cases, I welcome difficulty. In general, though, I prefer the illusion of difficulty. With little free time, having to struggle in a single game tends to get frustrating easily.

Played them all except the first one, absolution is okay I guess.. If you can pick it up for a few bucks I'd certainly do so. The game does have alot less freedom in movement though, alot more narrow corridors with not alot of options. The old games used to be defined by these open world maps where you had countless ways of executing your contract, something that's mostely missing in absolution.

Seems to be a general trend in action games today. Maps are usually much more linear. Call of Duty syndrome?

I have Hitman: Absolution from the Square Enix Humble Bundle 2, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
I tried Thief, but it felt a little too slow for me since I'm not patient enough. How would you say Hitman: Absolution compares to that, if it can be compared at all?
Also, the duck in the image is priceless.

Edit: Also, Riding Dirty. Is that what you were aiming for?

Haven't played Thief so hard to say. You can blast your way through levels, if sneaking gets on nerves. Best part in Hitman is the (limited pool of) options how you kill the target. Style over efficiency? Going as silent killer or unleashing a bloodbath?

I played the first 3 thief games. (Thief Gold, Thief 2 and Thief: Deadly Shadows).
I agree that Thief can be... quite slow.
For Hitman: Absolution you don't have to stealth, and if you are just done with it, you can just shoot everyone and move on.
Is it fun? That's your own opinion.
But I can tell you if you do that, the game will be short as hell.

Yeah huge fan ever since the first one & loved them all with the exception of Absolution which turned the franchise into a action stealth game instead of the sandbox assassination sim it always used to be.
Shame there's no new title in sight though, seems the devs are way more focused on mobile games these days after the success of Hitman GO.

Last news I could dig up on a proper Hitman 6 is that IO interactive is working on it, with the official reveal planned for later this year.

Got to agree on Absolution though, it was ok but a lot more linear. (With the exception of the King of Chinatown level, which for a relatively small area has plenty of ways to get rid of your mark.)

Yeah that level was amazing, it's the redeeming factor for the franchise if you ask me, it proofs that they can get it right.
Honestly I'm still clueless why the hell they thought running from 1 door to another would be a good way to progress in a hitman game, sure it worked for Kane & Lynch (which I really liked despite all the bad reviews it got) but that's only because that whole game was based on chaos.

I really hope the new title will be more like blood money and less like absolution both in level design and in mission goals, for instance the whole "get more points on completion by performing executions in set places" as opposed to getting a higher ranking by not killing people was a bit of a immersion breaker for me, it just felt so gimmicky.
Any chance you've read their open apology letter concerning Absolution? It got my hopes up for the next title but at the same time I do wonder if they still have some of the people on board that worked on blood money, if not then my guess is they'll try to imitate blood money but it'll never come close to that "assassin sim" that I fell in love with.

Well, it's still the original company at work. How much has changed within that company remains to be seen though. We'll see if they achieve what they stated in the open letter (linky for those interested: http://hitman.com/open-letter-to-hitman-fans/?age-verified=2230a723d9) when the first real evidence starts appearing.

Had not seen that one. Thanks for the link. More open levels sound good, but as you said, for now one can only wait for more information.

Played all of them and in order! Really fun! I haven't played Hitman GO, though!

Absolution was nice, though shifting towards action stealth! I have yet to try it on "Purist" difficulty though.

I find it nice when gameplay has major change with difficulty level. Like enemies getting new moves or behavior instead of just scaling numbers (e.g. hit points, damage). How did that level change the game?

I think in practically all the Hitman games, the last difficulty removes the ability to use the map to locate targets. Also, on the max difficulty there are no checkpoints and you practically have to do the whole mission from start to finish without failure. In Absolution there are checkpoints regardless of difficulty.

I wouldn't know about the AI, because I've never played below max difficulty. But if you get frustrated easily, try any difficulty below max, which at least lets you save progress.

I have played it but didn't like the new one too many unecessary mechanics that made the game either trivial (on low diffuculties) or too frustrating (on higher ones), also the levels I played felt a litle small in comparisson with the older titles of the series, if I ever buy a hitman game for myself it will be Blood Money (I have hitman 2 on cd).

I got Hitman: Absolution form the Square Enix Humble Bundle 2 recently but haven't play it much.
I would say the Hitman is a nice game since you are trying to achieve assassin, and you can kill your target in many ways lol
By the way, METAL GEAR SOLID is also an action games with stealth element, but ppl usually eliminate enemies I guess.
