Steam keeps telling me I've got new things in my inventory (but there's nothing there)

So, Steam seems to have found a new way to be annoying. I keep getting the "You have 1 new item in your inventory" popup. And nothing. Nothing new.

Happened to me, too; checking my trades page, the card images weren't loading there, and at least one time a card did genuinely drop and also showed up as nothing, so I think it was an error with the inventory/card system. Could mean event cards are going live soon, could just be a Steam hiccup.

I just got Baldurs gate cards... out of nowhere... so... oh yeah, there were 4.

I've got no Baldur's gate cards :( But I did notice that when Company of Heroes 1 ended up getting cards, I got all but one card as a drop. So there might be some Baldur's gate cards incoming for me, Steam has just not realized that I should have them yet (I have played the game in the past on Steam).

Well, as per new rules, once the game is allowed to get cards, everyone who played it before will get an instantaneous drop so... we might have many drops out of nowhere...

Yeah. In the case of BG, you're supposed to get 5 cards dropping, so this is one shy of that. And the same thing happened with CoH, one shy of the total number of cards that can drop.
And I think you're right about this being BG cards. While I've not got any cards in my inventory, it claims that I have 1 card left to drop for it.

Are you running ASF or making badges?
It happened to me the other day that when I viewed some inventory notification on my phone, Steam on my PC was still showing the number, but when I clicked it it didn't show anything new.

ASF tricked me that way in the beginning, too. But at some point you realize there are actually new items in your inventory, so that's probably not his case.
