uninstalled

Microsoft Store

Wait, how? I had issues trying to download games from there during my Xbox Game Pass free trial, and uninstalling it was one of the things I literally couldn't do.

Never bought anything from there (and likely never will, not any games at least). But I did use it a lot when my Game Pass subscription was still going.

Lucky you. It's a blessing to be able to stay away from that trash.

The "blessing" of having an older computer I guess, I'd never submit it to Win 10 just due to it's age.

It's not uncommon for your Microsoft store purchase to not show up. It's also pretty easy for customers to purchase the Xbox One version of a game instead of the PC version, and vice-versa.

I haven't, don't think it's on my version of Win 10. Would like to play Forza Horizon games though, hopefully they come to Steam at some point.

I did use it for a couple of games. That took for a month or so Mainly Forza Horizon 4 but i don't think i would have any knowledge that could help you. Ask anyway if you want.

it's called "i must reply to this thread to look edgy so i'm gonna post something irrelevant, then get offended when people point it out" 😅

a classic on sg! 😹

It also just asks to add them on Steam, not comment here even if you do use it. So any comment if about as irrelevant as the next.

I like the classic of 10 pages of people repeating the same solution time and time again even after it was said to not work on page 1, because nobody ever bothers to read anything and thinks they are helping by adding more pages of same spam more.

i played a lot of games during a 3month free trial period (mertro exodus, alien isolation, we happy few, subnautica, a plaque tale, dead risnig 4, vampyr,....) Sometimes i had problems in downloading the games, sometimes i had problems in starting the games but the worst were i had bigger troubles to delete 2 of the games. Not shown in the apps but not giving free space on my hdd. And also i could not start games with alternative starting strings because it ist not possible to make a shortcut on desktop (hidden folders)

so for a free try it was very ok - good games. Paying for it at the moment NO

I only used it once, to try to download a game for my little brother.
The fun thing was that it didn't let me install anything even after buying it, I tried researching a lot on the internet with various solutions but nothing helped me. I even tried activating a different windows (home>enterprise). Turns out that for whatever reason I needed to go to Settings>Privacy>Info account>enable microsoft to use your account. And I only found out by accident.

I use it okay - purchased sea of theives on it and also got the gamepass ultimate on it when it was on offer - its fine, not much of a resource hog really - only problem I ever had was when I accidentally turned off something the was running on win10 and it seems the games service needed it so I had to hunt it down and turn it back on :P

Here are a few things you should know if you plan to use Microsoft store/ Xbox (pc) app that I learned from my 1 year of being a gamepass subscriber:

  1. Your download/update will often get stuck. And you'll have to manually resume it each time because Microsoft doesn't understand the concept of auto resuming a download even when your internet is perfectly fine.

  2. Want to start downloading a game before you go to sleep, so that you have a newly installed game next morning? You'll probably wake up with your download stuck at 30%.

  3. Sometimes your download/update will be stuck and not resume unless you restart your pc.

  4. DO NOT cancel an update once you've started it. It will remove the game from your pc entirely without any warning.

  5. Sometimes games with achievements will not give you achievements. (Happened to me with 2 games)

  6. Sometimes games that say it has cloud saves will not have your saves backed up. (lost 10+ hours of Sunset Overdrive progress)

  7. Single-player achievements will not unlock if you're not connected to the internet. (had to play Outer Worlds ending twice before the ending achievement unlocked because my internet was briefly off the first time.)

1-4 still happens to me regularly. 5-7 may have been accidental/fixed now.

To be honest my downloads usually go fine on MS Store/XBox GP, however sometimes the bar on the MS Store looks stuck (but it actually isnt)

For the achievements, when I load a game that has them I have to click a box that allows the App (i.e. game) to access my information. If you dont do this, then the achievements wont register. Some games also say they have achievements but this box doesnt appear for me, so they never work.

I use the MS Store to force app updates on my PC.

Other than that, I use the XBox Game Pass.

Interestingly though, I could only find and install the game "Coffee Talk" using the MS Store, as it doesnt show on my XBox Game Pass app despite it being included.
