The fact that Grumpy Cat gets a movie before Ceiling Cat or ICanHazCheezeburger cat saddens me...
Also the fact that this type of stuff (Annoying Orange show/Fred Movie) not surprising me anymore saddens me...

Let me explain the difference, ceiling cat and ICanHazCheezeburger is built for a very specific situation/gag which can be used for a gag, but nothing longer. But Grumpy Cat is build on attitude and character which can be easily used for something as long as a movie.

Exactly. 90 minutes of grumpy cat staring at random people is, I'm confident, going to be an awesome movie we're going to pay to see.

Can you build a story surrounding a gag? maybe something really short. But can you build a story surrounding a certain character with an attitude? easily. And by story I don't mean some novel or something, I mean something as simple as episodic story.

It's a cat.
That's grumpy.
There's no fucking movie there, they're just aiming towards dumb-ass internet users that'll go to see the movie just so they can say that they've seen it. It ridiculous and insulting.

Garfield was a TV show before movies. And before that, it was a comic. And before that 'movie' it was 20+ years around. Everyone knows about Garfield.

We were talking about basing story, and the comic was just based on the character of Garfield and the story was just built upon it. And to present a story in one entertainment industry it doesn't need to start from other industries, or you mean to tell me that before someone releases a movie he needs to run a series and a comic for 20 years before that?

EDIT: Tho to release a movie about an episodic story it should have a running some sort of an episodic series/comic. So they'll probably have to create an actual story based on a character which is much harder than creating a episodic story based on character.

I'm just saying that this movie is going to suck.
Plain and simple. It's going to be bad on more than one level. Garfield was bad, and I even kinda-sorta-like Garfield.

Well yeah, I don't argue with the fact that the movie is most likely gonna suck. I was just saying that it is possible to create a movie based on Grumpy Cat in contrary of ceiling cat and ICanHazCheezeburger cat.

I don't know, I could totally see Ceiling cat being made into something similar to "Cats & Dogs". Spy cat!

But then it would just be a movie about a spy cat that at most would just use the "ceiling cat" gag. A movie can't be about a gaga, a movie can include a gag but it wouldn't be about it while a movie can be easily be just about a certain character.

Depends if the spy cat's base of operations was based out of his owner's ceiling. Even better, his owner is also a spy. Ceiling Cat would then be able to gain intel on mission-critical information about the "bad dogs" of the world!
