Yep but you'll need a controller to play it well and if you're using Windows 8, a lot of gamepads won't work :/

Definitely. Be wary of bad port, but there's a reason for it. Resolution mod fix, DSfix may be necessary to run the game well. Controller is also higly recommended, this is a game that doesn't fit on keyboard+mouse.
Prepare your anus, scrub.

Just remmeber to use the DSFix by Durante, from "ugly port" will become "playable port with minor issues".
About the game: it is a great experience among the action-rpg, where player's skill >>>> button smashing and will help than 2-3 more stat points. The game is hard, but the hard type "now that I know that monster is a lot easier, but still challenging" and you'll rarely think "I died by game fault, not mine" because 99% of the times will be only your fault (beign greedy while attacking, letting your guard down in a seemingly quite place, and so on).
Each death is more experience for the player, but less money/expereince for the character (at least if you haven't spend it already).

Well...everybody is entitled to their opinion i guess. In my experience, the combat is friggin` awesome, you do not need a map or an external means of navigation (if you're really stuck the are two wikis, plus an RPG should always be about exploring), little to no trouble with the camera, the control is excellent (actually finished the game with mouse and keyboard when the game was released, so no m&k fix), the art style and visuals are very very very good (granted they are better if you use Dsfix by Durante), the sound design is just as it should be, and the story...is maybe the best part of the game (the way they deliver it truly is a bit hard to follow at first, but you just always need to pay attention).
So to summarize, the game is very good, and for me one of the best out there. And I didn't even touch the multi-player aspect.

The interesting part is that I too enjoyed Alpha Protocol :), so at least we have some form of common denominator.
I also agree that game devs can influence people to be more...let's say appreciative towards the games that they release, but I believe that this applies only to the biggest franchises, and the best known studios (regarding reputation), in the sense that their names sells the game. Just look at the Assassins Creed franchise. First one was good, second was great, but from then on, it seemed to me that they were just milking it. I couldn't get as involved in the latter games as I did in the first two. Plus there is also the thing about paid reviews, which some say it's fairly common, but I won't go as to say that this applies to all games.
Regarding DS, I never said that the port did not have it's problems (hell the developers said it themselves that the game had problems and they were not entirely happy with it), but if you just scratch the surface of the game you'll find something more than a gem. Also, what influence could the devs have had for the PC version when the initial release was on consoles? Just the fact that console players said the game was good, the PC players automatically adhered to their beliefs? Or was it some kind of manipulation technique on their part involved?

Every Dark Souls thread on the Internet ends up having huge blocks of text like this. That's where I stop reading!

Such a great game. After doing as much as I could with my first character, I've turned to creating all kinds of new builds now. It feels like I know this game inside-out, but I cant wait for DS2 (then I'll know nothing again!)
